Christman's Windham House

The Christman House is a landmark in Windham NY…This is our fourth visit during the summer. We have been here in the magnificent Fall season. We had a lovely suite in the main house. There was a king size bed, a sitting area and a great bathroom. Air conditioning , Wi-Fi  a big screen TV and comfortable seating.
The decor is quaint & rustic.

There’s something special about this beautiful little upstate resort tucked away in the town of Windham.  My friends and I try to do at least one long weekend annually.  The people there are courteous, kind, and warm.  From the front desk to the pro shop you feel like you’re in good hands.  The rooms are perfect for a nice little getaway and there’s plenty on the resort to give you something to do all day.  A nice breakfast spread then off to the course.  Play a great round of golf on a course that’s equal parts challenging, and stunning.  The greens and fairways are pristine.  The views are arresting.  After that take a dip in the pool or grab a drink at the bar. Both are quite refreshing.   The food is delicious and the staff are accommodating. Highly recommend the blueberry cake.

We were looking for a quick but safe getaway when we discovered Christman's Windham House. This is a golf resort located in the Catskill mountains. It is a great area to visit at any time, but during fall foliage it can not be beat. There are  different buildings with rooms in this resort with the Country Inn being the very nicest. Ruth, our hostess, is wonderful. When we arrived she gave us many good tips of places to eat and even called and made reservations for us for that evening. Every tip we were given by Ruth was spot on. We were also offered a golf cart which was ours for the time we were there. Of course a cart is great for golfing, but we added another dimension at Ruth's suggestion and got up early to be on the course before the golfers started and the views on that course are magnificent. They also have a grill directly across the road from the Country Inn which offered good food without a need to drive anywhere. There are several good restaurants in this area and several interesting shops. The Catskills is beautiful area and we found our visit terrific.

We stopped in at 7:30 pm and we’re greeted warmly even though the kitchen was closing at 8pm. We were served our drinks immediately and we had a view of the mountains.  The fries were super hot and our sandwiches were delicious. We were delighted to dine in the large, rustic 1805 tavern. We will happily return in the future!

This is a quaint mountain resort. The room was clean, roomy, with a nice balcony with a beautiful view. Perfect for a relaxing nightcap. The staff is friendly and welcoming, always willing to help and greet you with a genuine hello and smile. They made dinner reservations for us each night. Breakfast (included in our rate) was plentiful and fresh. The 1805 Tavern (across the street overlooking the golf course) was good for burgers and sandwiches for lunch. Pool is small but nice. The grounds are beautifully kept and clean. 
I definitely plan on returning next summer hopefully for more than just a weekend. 

Been coming here in summer for more than two decades. The innkeepers and their staff  are always welcoming and accommodating, and the 18-hole mountain course is well-maintained and a good test of your golfing skills. But most of all, this is an excellent place to simply relax with a good book and breathe some clean air.

Nice place to stay . People very friendly. Breakfast is included with rate. Lots to choose from on breakfast menu served 7:15-10:00. If we were in the area again would go back . Beautiful grounds. Golf course across street. In season there is skiing as well

My wife and I recently spent an enjoyable weekend with our cousins at Christman's Windham House, an historic inn on the edge of town. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating - couldn't ask for nicer people. The breakfast (included) menu included ample options and the food was great.  It was a very hot weekend so we took a dip in the pool to cool off.  As beginner golfers, we really enjoyed the 9-hole valley course across the road and lunch at the restaurant there overlooking the course. We look forward to returning to play the 18-hole mountain course - we took a cart around it and it's spectacular, a real jewel. The inn has been around since the early 1800s but the inn is well maintained and the rooms are very comfortable with A/C. The town has some terrific restaurants, including Millrock - it's seriously good Italian but don't let the name fool you!  If you're planning to visit the real, put Christman's on your list.

I have been passing this restaurant and lodge for years and finally went there for dinner. I ordered the Salmon and it was the freshest I have ever eaten. Everyone's food was also good. Now, the décor is dated and needs  updating. We went on the first night it was open for the season and they did have a bit of a problem with the service. I don't think they expected to be as busy as they got and they also had to cater a party in the next room. So, I can give them a pass on the slow service. I will be going back this weekend and can update everything afterwards. They have a very nice golf course and they also have a small pub adjacent to the course.

I want to start off with the staff. These folks were super helpful in planning, booking, making arrangements etc for a family reunion. Meals on site (we had all three) were great, and the staff were incredible.

The grounds and views are beautiful. Sitting on the porch, reading, overlooking the mountains. Pool was kitchy-cute, loved the shade canopy and the kids loved the tubes and noodles provided for the heated pool. We had a small firepit and there was at least one more closer to the main inn with a ton of picknic tables. And a bin of outdoor game equipment -- bocce, crochet, badminton. 

Our rooms were not in one of the main buildings, but the first floor of one of the other meetings. The rooms were dated, musty. Cobwebs. The beds were comfortable. The windows needed to be opened for the duration. Wallpaper peeling at seams, ceiling tiles browned from water damage, a few falling through. Our rooms connected to eachother--some in better shape than others. The main room common area between our rooms was dark and dusty. Large fireplace, broken rusty ice machine in corner. We quickly agreed as a family that we would not be hanging out in there--and luckily it was warm enough and the overhand of the building we could set up chairs outside. 

I would come back -- the overall experience was great. BUT, I would ask more questions about the accomodations and ensure I was in a more updated part of the property. 

And the people were the kindest!!!
