Moderne Hostel

Check in time was an hour after the time noted in the email which had stated 2 pm. Apart from that all was good. We had a two person room with one queen bed. Bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. Shared bathroom was clean and the shower was good and water hot. Unusual bathroom layout with two toilets in shared space with no individual doors, but one could lock the outer door if needed.Convenient location and it was quiet the night we stayed. I would stay here again.

This place did not feel like a hostel more like you were staying in someone’s home.  Plenty of free parking and walking distance from the village.  Great location and one of the lowest priced accommodations you can find in Mammoth.  I’ve stayed at other higher priced locations that were not as nice.  Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms.

Was easy to get the key even after checking in very late. Comfortable premises and fair price.

It was a hostel, bunk beds like a college dorm, shared bathroom etc.Some are better, some are worse.Inexpensive.I was on the road camping out most nights. It was really cold that night, just needed a place to sleep.It served the purpose

This is a nice hostel. Each bunk has its own locker with combination lock. Wifi worked very well. More electrical outlets are needed for charging cellphones.

Self check in worked fine, Hostel is nice and clean.

Very basic stay but the affordable one in the whole city of Mammoth Lake. House keepers did a great job changing sheets an. Cleaning each dorm room.

Affordable, close to the slopes, this spot is great for solo ski travel. But what set it apart was the amazing people I met while there. Definitely plan on coming back!

I’ve stayed here twice this season. A few things I would adjust. All the pillows are like an inch thick I think they should throw all of them away and get real pillows. Also they give you very thin blankets and it’s cold in the rooms. So I had to aft for a comforter and luckily they had one. As far as nice staff they deff are very nice.Also I would recommend painting the walls a new color. Gray or sage Greg, antique white something modern. The yellow walls makes this place feel very old and dated.It’s deff needs some love but the price is perfect.

Stayed here for a couple of nights while hiking in the Mammoth Lakes region. No major complaints. If your room is on the upper floor, it can be a bit of a work getting your luggage up and down if you have multiple small items. The bathroom design was a bit weird bcoz two persons may not be able to access the restrooms independently, check the pictures if they have them. Super small showers. Tbh, the hostel I stayed in at Breckenridge CO offered a lot more value for money at the same price.

Hostel stay

Hostel was clean and comfortable. Check-in was a bit odd; your key and info are in an envelope on a bulletin board.Small common area but a large kitchen. Overall, if you're trying to save a buck to spend later up at Mammoth Mountain, this spot is hard to beat.Lots of parking right out front, easy walk to a brewery.

Feels like a home

This was my first hostel experience and it was good! Overall clean and the kitchen had what I needed. It was another solo trip for me and it was nice to make a few friends to ski with. My room (206), was uncomfortably cold the first night, even with the extra blanket. I asked one of the cleaning staff for a space heater (per another reviewer) and that saved me!

My adult daughter and I stayed in a private room, and shared the bathroom, kitchen and living room. It was very enjoyable chatting with the other guests while preparing meals or hanging out in the evening. The kitchen was very organized and clean. It was also handy to be able to walk to the Village gondola, which zipped us right up to the ski resort.

Surprised by all the advantages

I paid for and expected a bare bones hostel experience. The room and kitchen/ common areas were clean and in good order. The bathroom was clean but well worn. The shower handle is loose from the wall and the floor is flexing in front of the toilet. All in all this is a reasonable budget experience hotel.

You get what you pay for

I stayed just one night in a private room, shared bathroom. Mammoth is expensive so you’re hard pressed to find something cheaper. I slept well, comfy bed, clean rooms but carpet stained and old furniture. Sheets and fluffy towels are clean. Definitely not modern! The floors creak and doors slam so if people are awake it’ll be noisy. I got lucky and the guests staying when I was there were courteous and observed quiet hours. Folks were sociable in that great hostel way, gathering in the kitchen. 

Kitchen has everything- microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, dishes, etc. fridge is kept clean but cluttered with everyone’s stuff. Free food left in middle of table. 

Security is good with front door kept locked and guests given keys. 

Walking distance from anything you need and free trolley around town.

Only downsides are potential for noise if guests are careless (although it’s not a party place) and limited bathrooms. As long as people aren’t selfish it’s fine.

Comfortable, has all you need, can be noisy

Comfortable hostel in perfect location to explore Mammoth and access the free trolley system. Met  interesting people from many countries. Bathroom, kitchen, bedrooms, and social areas clean, comfortable, and inviting. Ample parking. Bunk bed was a little wobbly and my “locked “ drawer was broken...informed desk to repair.
