My stay was satisfactory, I only needed a place to lay down and wash and for the price I couldn’t beat it, check in is always fast and convenient.

We reallyenjoyed staying here. It was very quiet considering being on a main strip. Was very clean and just what we needed after our long drive. We will definitely make this our go to when we travel that way again

This was an excellent first night to a long trip - the owners were nice and accommodating. The hotel was clean. I liked staying here

It was one of the nicest motels I had seen for the price that it was.

We come to Dover each year for a special event. We stay at First State Inn.This was our third year and we will continue to stay there. Good value for the money. It lacks the bells and whistles such as a pool and gym...we have no time for anyway...it is clean and the air is strong. Both the microwave and fridge worked. It was quiet. Many places to eat and/or shop nearby.

I’m going to rate this based on what the price is and not compare to higher priced hotels that I normally stay at.  I was here for Amish bike ride.   It was just me and I’m very easy going.   The good:- Cost- Fast food.  Walk to Wendy’s and McDonald’s are couple doors down.  - Convenient stores.  Wawa is 5 min drive.   - Fairly quiet.   I only saw a few cars parked there though.  - Non smoking.  I got non smoking room and no smell of smoke.  - Air conditioner - worked.  - No bugs.   I didn’t see anything.   - Microwave and fridge worked. - Parking - got space in front of room.   It was a little empty though.  - Businesses - it’s on a busy street so lots of other  options if looking for something.  Bad- No shampoo.   I asked for and didn’t have.  - There was dirty towel or was clean with dirt marks.  - Visually looked clean but if look closely little dirty.   There was actually some dog throw up or something in corner under chair.  - Tv - not sure if expecting too much at this price point but tv had no HD.   And seemed to only have access to basic channels.  I gave it 4 stars based on the price.  Would I stay here again - possible but may check out other cheap hotels down the street.  I wouldn’t bring my family here unless needed to.

My Stay

A very nice clean mom and pop motel.  The manager was very nice.  Our room was fully mobility accessible.  My wife who is in a wheelchair had no problems at all.  Good A/C, fridge, micro.  There was no coffee or breakfast but none was promised.  There is a McDonalds next door for coffee and breakfast.  Overall, this motel was an outstanding value.

Well me and my grown disabled daughter was scammed trying to rent a home for her surgery my daughter is really sick born with down syndrome alot of shelters discriminate against us because of it. Motel let us stay here we had to pay all the money we had so now we are back on the streets of Dover Delaware but this motel is the BEST

Room was very clean which was pleasant even though was some dated. Very adequate for the one night I was there.  Had asked for a first floor room and was readily accommodated for such. Staff were friendly and helpful. Road noise was evident but with the cost of room being such a good deal, was not offended by it.

Being here for business I will be extending my stay a few more days, I have returned several times.Management and staff work well to insure guests have essentials, safety and reasonable security, there are NO AMENITIES BUT A AFFORDABLE PRICE. In these uncertain economic times, it allows families to afford visiting the many beautiful places to visit beaches, lakes, malls, speedway racing, to name a few at low gasoline and sales tax come here to shop...In my opinion, visiting on business or pleasure allows me to decide amenities and for a gym, or pool offered by higher priced hotels can just as easily be obtained locally to where I live. Where traveling I want to experience the state or region and will seek those amenities as I pposed to high priced hotels.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...A GREAT PRICE no ammenities.I travel for business First State provides the same ecpectations as more costly hotels, although no amenities.When traveling i want to experience what the areas have to offer ....not what hotels have to offer. In that manner, i could simply stay home and be pampered at a local higher cost hotel.The management and staff work very well to provide repairs and upgrades as best they can. They clean the apartments and are pleasant, the parking is free and observed by security cameras that appear to be well angled and rooms are cleaned with linnen and they try to accommodate at check in and check out dates.

Manager & housekeeping was pleasant. My only complaint is that there was no room on 1st floor available. No elevator. Bed was very comfortable but pillows were flat. Microwave and mini refrigerator worked well.
