The Lang House was originally built in 1919 as a country retreat for city dwellers seeking a respite from city life. It once served as a private home and as a boarding house for Mundelein Women's College, Loyola University. Its basement once housed the broadcasting operations of a local radio station. All the while, it was known as the house that was situated next to the Emil Bach House, which was designed by noted architect Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1915. Today, the Lang House has its own identity. Located at 7421 North Sheridan Road in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood and designed by architect Edgar M. Newman, it is listed as a four-star hotel, a striking example of the American Four Square Prairie Mansion style home with original stained glass windows, mahogany trim and Art Deco style hand-stenciled wall art. The house features six luxury guest rooms with private baths, heated floors and towel bars, a large, two-tiered deck, two full kitchens, a two-car garage, two guest laundry rooms, a sauna and a massage room.
