Sun Mau Hotel

I got an opportunity to stay a few days in Mombasa after a Conference in Nairobi and booked a room at Sun Mau close to Shanzu Beach. The hotel had just opened and I was able to get a room for less then 50 USD per night. The hotel has everything you need for a break in Mombasa, including a swimming pool, AC, TV and a functional bathroom. The staff was very friendly and made me feel welcome. I also loved the location as it is peaceful and I could stroll around a few small bars and restaurants on my way to the beach. However it is also close to areas like Mtwapa and Bamburu where there are many nightclubs and a active nightlife. The major drawback was that the internet was not yet installed, but I was informed that they are installing fast wifi in a few weeks. In the meantime I was able to borrow a Wireless modem for free. A perfect location if you want a relaxing stay close to the beach for a reasonable price.
