What can I say about Island Camp, for me one of the most special places. The treatment of the staff, the rooms, the food and what to say about the pool...... all incredible. I wish you the best, keep going like this and you will succeed. Thank you so much.

We went with two  teenage daughters for three  nights and we all agreed that Island Camp Baringo was the highlight. If only we'd stayed longer! The place has a magical tranquility that cannot be matched. The wildlife, the comfort, the food, the pool, the sunrises, the boat trips, the peace - sheer Heaven. Perrie was a terrific host too - very accommodating and fun! Thank you for the amazing memories. 

Island camp came recommended and I’m so pleased I visited.
We were there September 2nd for 3 nights leaving on Tuesday 5th September.
We were staying in room 2 and it certainly exceeded our expectations.
The detached thatched lodge was amazing, it was a wow factor right from first casting our eyes on the sun loungers by the plunge pool looking directly over the Lake!
The lodge itself was a huge luxury room with a king size bed and massive en-suite bathroom.
Perrie, the owner chatted to us over drinks by the pool bar. A lovely down to earth man who would do anything to make your stay even more enjoyable (if that were possible).
He organised a guided walk for us on one of the islands and even invited us for nibbles & drinks with some other guests at his own lodge prior to having dinner.
The food was traditional, buffet on a lunch time & food directly served to you at dinner.
It was all delicious. The staff, many who have worked for Perrie for over 20years were amazing. Nothing was too much for them.
It’s such a shame that we didn’t stay longer.
We’re going to miss you all and miss the beautiful island with it’s stunning sunsets.

We have visited Island Camp a number of times since 2009. Although the water is still high, causing them to lose some rooms, it is still a lovely place with friendly, attentive service. Our group of nine enjoyed cocktails by the pool, meals, and a morning boat ride to view the birds, hippos, and crocs. The Fish Eagle feeding did not disappoint. Relax and enjoy this unique little spot in the world.

From the moment we arrived until the time we were waved off on our way we were treated like family. This is a very special place. The ‘houses’ are truly wonderful and very comfortable and being being woken up with coffee to watch the most incredible sunrise I have ever seen is something extremely special. We went on several boat rides with the very knowledgable Peter who could magic the fish eagles out of their perches to grab fish by the side of the boat. We saw Hippos , crocodiles and no end of different varieties of birds and wildlife. we had a trip to Ruko Island where we were met by the local ranger who escorted us around the island to see the resident Giraffe , one was only 10 days old !!
  The food was sublime especially the fillet steak .
We simply cannot wait to return . You will not be disappointed.

Recently stayed at Island Camp, and enjoyed every minute. We spent 3 nights here and certainly didn't want to leave. From the boat journey across - passing hippos and local fishermen, everything was a treat for the eyes. We enjoy birding, and we saw more bird life here than just about any other place in Kenya - thanks in part to Johnson and his telescopic eyes ! Everyone here was friendly and helpful especially Kennedy in the restaurant, and Dexter at reception. Highly recommended.

I had the pleaser of staying at Island camp and can't wait to return. It is one of the most wonderful places on earth to visit. The hospitality is second to non and the food was excellent. The rooms are amazing and incredibly romantic especially with that outstanding sunrise view. I highly recommend staying there as its a rare find. The wildlife abounds, share breakfast with the birds!

What an amazing place! I wish we could have stayed for longer. We didn’t know this part of Kenya and it’s SO worth exploring it. We stayed in a lovely luxurious room with a hot shower and incredible view. Birds everywhere!
The pool is lovely, Perry and his staff were so welcoming. GO! It’s a gem! We will be back.

This incredible resort does nothing but take your breath away from the minute you step foot on to the boat. We were sailed up by Peter who was so friendly and helpful. Once we arrived we were greeted with a refreshing fruit juice and taken up to the pool bar where we met owner and manager, Perrie Hennessy. 

Our rooms were private and traditionally African with beautiful views of the lake. I lay in bed every morning and watched the sky turn pink with the sunrise as our morning coffees was delivered.

Every meal was delicious, especially the soups! 

My favourite day was when we went to Roko Island for a walking safari. Mike showed us around and introduced us to the animals. We were even able to stroke a warthog! There’s not many safari’s where you can guarantee seeing animals like this!

Peter then took us out on the lake to feed the fish eagles and show us the many beautiful species of bird around the island. His knowledge was impeccable!

I want to thank Perrie, Bonnie, Moses, Cyrus, Peter, Reuben and Colins for being so accommodating. We will definitely be returning again!

This is not my first visit to Island Camp. I love this place, it is so relaxing and you are made so welcome by the staff and management.
I am fortunate to have a superior room, with uninterrupted views over the lake and the amazing morning sunrise is worth waking up for.
We have enjoyed the abundance of wildlife especially visiting the giraffes on a local island. Feeding the fish eagle is an experience not to miss.
This place is truly wonderful and highly recommended.

A little piece of paradise

Little Piece of Paradise!

If you love nature, birds, peace and quiet, this is the place for you. I came here twice within one month. I just had to come back. You get to the island by boat from the shore lying strictly west from the Ol Kokwe Island. If you have a vehicle, it will remain guarded there during your stay. You might want to visit the local snake-zoo if you have time before your ride. The ride takes between 20 to 30 minutes depending on the waves. The lake has crocodiles and hippos so this makes the ride theoretically a bit more exciting. The tents are nice and comfortable. All tents are facing the lake, with a nice view. The tents are quite close one to another. The camp is very quiet, it is a great place to rest while observing all species of birds and listening to their chants. You can observe some birds' fishing techniques right from the tent. There are 2 bars, a main restaurant and a breakfast restaurant. The food is excellent. At breakfast, you will be surrounded by dozens of cute feathery chirping thieves who will pounce on your food should you leave it unattended for a few seconds. Do not miss the boat safari ride! It takes an hour and a half around the island, you will see the amazing Fish Eagles catching fish, Goliath Herons, Kingfishers, Cormorants, Crocodiles, Hippos etc. Take the ride before breakfast. I don't see this camp as a place for small kids, although there is quite a big swimming pool within the camp.
