I would like to make you all aware of our experience with this apartment I order to discourage anybody from booking this "apartment". 

A week before we arrived I received an email from the owner of the apartment, basically asking when we would be checking in. I replied and advised our schedule, so far so good I thought. 

Upon arrival I was 15 mins earlier than expected and was trying to contact the owner to advise that we would be a little early. I was unable to get through for around 20 mins as the phone was engaged, the other numbers provided did not connect as they didn't provide the correct area codes for international phones. 

Eventually I got through, I advised the address that I was at and he advised that someone would be with me in 5 mins. Half an hour passed and no sign of anyone, so I tried to contact the man I spoke to to see what had happened, again the phone was engaged for a further 20 mins. I got through and the man bluntly said you are early so she  wasn't expecting you, fair enough but why say that she would be 5 mins 50 mins ago. 
Eventually a lady turned up on a bicycle and advised that she was at another property waiting for us, although she came from the opposite direction to where we headed... 

By this point you can probably imagine that our patience was wearing thin and just wanted to get to the apartment, have a shower and go for dinner. When we arrived I was appalled at the apartment. We expected a basic apartment that had a small kitchenette and basic amenities. 
The reality was much different, we were confronted with a bedroom in a shared apartment. Although the kitchen wasn't available to us. So what we had was a bedroom with a fridge, a shower room (no toilet and a broken shower), a shared toilet (no soap or towels) over the hall and in the hall several appliances and no sink. I think they were expecting us to wash up in either the shower or toilet sink. I know this sounds quite dramatic but I took pictures to show back up this description. I feel that the advertisement I viewed on booking.com was very misleading as no where does it mention that you are sharing with strangers.

The bed was broken and you could feel all the wooden beams through the mattress, we we provided with only 2 very small flat pillows. There was a TV that looked like it was from the 1980's which we were unable to watch due to how far away from the bed it was. 

We spent 1 night there, purely because it was getting late and just wanted to get some dinner and explore a bit of the city. That 1 night was one of the most uncomfortable nights I have experienced and my girlfriend was bitten by insects. I booked another apartment  which was only slightly more expensive but was very reasonable and very comfortable (and it had air con). 

Think twice before you book this accommodation, Budapest is a very nice city  and very reasonably priced you can pick up much nicer places for not much more money. Don't let staying here ruin your trip!!!
