An outstanding hideaway in a location which may seem remote, yet there is plenty to do around. The farm is located on a lovely hillside with great views. The houses are spread over the area so you have privacy and lot of space around you. The buildings are historic (original or partly re-built) but with all amenities of the 21st century. Everything is super clean and cozy, kitchen is well equipped. The highlight of the stay were the breakfasts in the central building where the farmer surprised every day with a different treat, besides offering homemade meat- and dairy products. During breakfast we always had a nice conversation with him as well – not sure what foreign languages he speaks as I am Hungarian. Some hotels or accommodations are OK for short stay, but this is a place where I could imagine really living there.

If you're going to drive round Lake Balaton there's no finer place to break the journey than a stay on the farm in one of the five Oreghegyi Apartments. Surrounded by rolling countryside and empty country roads, the farm is home to goats, mangalica pigs, guinea fowl and donkeys, many of which feature on the menu for breakfast!
The apartments are really small houses set on a small hill about five kilometres away from where you check-in at the Kemal Thermal Spa. They provide you with a map and co-ordinates (it's not on Garmin GPS) and take your money.
As soon as we arrived at the farm we were met by the farmer who spoke not a word of English but who was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast the next morning was in a communal kitchen with various delicious meats and cheeses and a huge omelette. German is spoken (and probably Russian).
The apartments consist of spotless bedrooms, well-equipped kitchens and smart bathrooms all decorated with local antiques.
We walked down the road and collected pocketfuls of the most delicious walnut windfalls.
This is a fine place to stay if you want to see the real Hungary.

There are several small houses on the hillside, built recently but in the traditional style. They accommodate 2-4 people, have kitchens with cooking equipment, simple bathrooms and the possibility to sit/eat outside.

The houses are part of a small farm with animals (chicken, horses, cows, sheep, mangalica pigs) and the entire area is very peaceful, green and the view on the surrounding hills is really beautiful at any time of the year.

We come here to relax, be far from our computer addicted lives and office jobs and reconnect with nature. There are various crops, fruit trees, vineyards, bird singing in the morning, bugs during the day, mosquitos in the evening. Its a wonderful, healthy environment with an owner who is enthusiastic about valuing the Hungarian countryside.

In the winter, you can heat up your house by burning wood in the traditional stoves- this creates a particularly warm atmosphere.

The houses are decorated with items that reflect traditional rural life, and the decor is done with good taste, not too much, not too old fashioned.

The breakfast, which, is included in the price is incredibly generous, served at the time you want and keeps you going for a while. It is, however, not recommended for vegetarians or people on a diet. (the former is probably doable if you ask for it). Friendly, Hungarian hospitality, including a shot of palinka (fruit based spirit, very high in alcohol content) in the morning, so be prepared!
