We loved the concept, the environment, the cozy and spacious house, the fireplace - excellent stay for the whole family including kids/teens and dogs. We will return in the summer to be able to try the pool. 

We searched a quiet place with a pool in this area.
I think we found it. The water was a bit cold but we could enjoy it once.
There are a lot of nice places around and it is nice that we got a few tips from the hosts.

We had a lovely stay at Irota Ecolodge. The ground floor and all the rooms are spaceous enough for a family of 6 with 2 children. The kitchen is fully equipped, the beds were very comfortable. The house is equipped with eco-friendly solutions, we even had 6 different litter bins to sort recyclable waste. The village and the surroundings are nice and calm as well.

The two days we spent at Lower House was one of our most pleasant get-aways in Hungary. The house is stylish and comfortable; the backyard is beautiful and fenced in; and the people helping us were very kind and respectful. We also really appreciated the fact that guests are allowed to bring along their furry family members. But what striked me even more was the genuine care that the owners invested in ensuring that their initiative is sustainable. They, for example, prepare a yearly sustainability report, with the appropriate carbon emission calculations included and yearly progress tracked.  We are looking forward to returning for a longer stay.

We, two families with 5 kids, had a great time at this beautiful and quiet place. The location is unique, the houses are spacious, well equipped, the swimming pool gives you a good cooling down on hot days like we had. 
In the village close to the main road we have even found characters from fairy tales that fit in very well in the fairytale environment. and they have enchanted the children as well.

What a fantastic property to stay at.  Located in extremely rural Northern Hungary, there are 3 properties (built and running self sustainably).  Each the same size but each with a unique decor (modern, retro and Hungarian).  Everything on the property was spotless, well thought out and positioned.  We rented all three houses with three families and it worked out perfectly.  Hosts were very easy to communcate with prior to our stay as well as checking in and during our visit.  The surrounding countryside is stunningly gorgeous.  It was late October so we were unable to use the pool but plan to re-visit when it is warmer so we can enjoy that as well.

Perfect place for families or groups.  Bring all the food and drink for your stay as the nearest stores are quite far - and to be honest once you get there you will not want to leave the property unless it is to explore the forests and farmlands surrounding it.

We had a local cook prepare our first meal upon arrival (all coordinated with the hosts) and not only was it delicious it took us 3 days to finish it all, very plentiful.

Cannot recommend a stay here highly enough.  A rare gem in Hungary for sure.

I stayed here for a long weekend with my family and loved the ambiance. It was special to see so many ecological principles put into action, with homes designed to be as sustainable as possible. The hosts were super kind and engaging, and made this place beyond just another spot to stay, but instead brought stories and experiences into the mix.

It’s a great and spacious house, very luxurious and a fantastic terras. And a perfect location to go out for long walks - without meeting anybody. A perfect holiday home in these remarkable times.

We visited this place with friends during Easter, and the location was fantastic, the 
 building extremely spacious and spotlessly clean.
Fireplace is a nice touch, and they have great outdoor cooking facilites as well.
Highly recommended for families or friends, we preferred the "Felső Ház", as it is the most isolated.
I would love to go back any time to experience the tranquil and serene environment with the great hospitality of our hosts.

Perfect for hiking, biking, relaxing, meditating, detoxing (mental, physical, digital). Super friendly and helpful hosts. Close to the beautifully renovated Edelény castle. Something not to be missed.

The place was beautiful, calm. We found several good And practical solution ín the modern house. Unfortunately some small things was disturb us. Several type of insects were ín the ecopool which can bites, so my child was swim until not recognize it. I found a 3cm long pink nail And 2 beer bottle caps the bottom of the pool. The side of the pool I found a cigarette stub. The modern house style was a mixed. Modern style mixed with old style. Like ín the bathroom the washbasin modern but the bath tube is not. The kitchen furniture is modern but the other side of the hall the same color cupboard is old style. We need to sweeping the complete hall. It was dirty when we arrived. Two sunbeds were damaged, tear the plastic net material ín a long section.

It was a perfect choice for our stay. Calm, silent neighbourhood, perfect place for relaxation. Premium quality with environmentally conscious construction and management. Our hosts were very friendly, mindful and flexible. The surroundings are ideal for hiking and travel (Košice, Aggtelek). All together we were very satisfied with Irota Ecolodge. / Tökéletes választásnak bizonyult. Nyugodt, csendes környék, pihenésre és kikapcsolódásra kiválóan alkalmas hely. Minőségi szállás, amely környezetbarát még a legapróbb részleteiben is. A vendéglátóink nagyon barátságosak, figyelmesek és rugalmasak voltak. Environmentally conscious holiday / Nyaralás környezetbarát módon

A truly wonderful place, in the middle of absolutely nowhere.  It has been created with enormous foresight and love.  We needed a quiet place to stay and it fitted the bill perfectly.

Be warned it is not on the way to anyway and you need to drive quite a distance south before you can go north, unless you take the top "road" to Tokaji.  That was a mistake, it is more a collection of holes held together by a small amount of tarmac - not to be repeated!

The houses are minimally furnished and could probably do with a few more tables and perhaps a chest of drawers, also somewhere to hang clothes would be helpful.  However, everything was spotlessly clean and to be able to use glasses without having to wash them first is a treat.

Meals ordered were enormous and incredibly good, a menu for 3 lasted for 2 days so bring a healthy appetite.

Utter peace

Irota Ecolodge was everything we expected and more.  The houses are well designed, completely eco-friendly; yet offer all the modern conveniences and comforts.  They’re also much larger than one would gather from the online photos.  We really appreciated the good internet connection, stunning interior; showers with good water pressure; veranda with comfortable furniture; BBQ facilities; natural pool; grocery basket on order with real Hungarian sausage and wines, the lovely village food from Mrs. Miklos with 4 menu’s to choose from; mountain bikes; all the modern conveniences one would expect from modern upmarket urban accommodation, yet nestled in the quiet tranquility of the Hungarian countryside.  Jeroen and Lennard made every effort to make us comfortable and provide for our needs.  Although guests usually travel to the lodge by car, we took the train from Budapest under the good guidance of our hosts and it turned out to be problem free and a fascinating adventure.  Irota Ecolodge is the perfect tranquil getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life with all the serenity and tranquility one would expect from the Hungarian countryside, yet with all the amenities of modern accommodation, which makes it all the more amazing when one realizes that the accommodation is completely eco-friendly.  What Jeroen and Lennard have achieved offers a new vision for what can be accomplished for country living. Using the latest eco-friendly building techniques and innovations, a tranquil and sustainable yet modern green countryside lifestyle is now possible, the perfect getaway.
