When you're travelling through unknown territory, it's lunchtime and you have an afternoon deadline to keep you have to take potluck, even with all the web assistance in the world. The midday meal at Sziget in Tarján was superb from start to finish - a cordial welcome, an unexpected but very pleasant mini-starter, splendid and generous soup portions and (as a result) well-made alternatives to a main course: I had a Hortobágyi pancake done the way it should be, my wife the traditional túrós csusza (cottage cheese with sour cream on pasta with lashings of fried bacon squares on the top... weirdly you'll find that among the "desserts" because in the past it was always under the "tészta" section - tészta being anything rom spaghetti to sponge! We didn't enter the restaurant with any expectations - we needed to eat - but if we had, they would pürobably havew been exceeded.
