We had a lovely stay at Ocean Forest. The grounds are beautiful and we had a wonderful view from our beach cabin. The staff were very hospitable and did everything they could to be helpful. The meals were very reasonably priced. All were good, and some were excellent. We stayed for three nights so we could spend a day hiking in Corcovado and a day snorkelling. (both great excursions) We would have gladly spent another day or two exploring the area right around Ocean Forest.

The ecolodge was everything that we had hoped for. The food was delicious, the facilities were beautiful and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the antics of the white-faced monkeys and the constant stream of tropical birds.

Ocean Forest Eco Lodge, 

A seven hour drive west and then south from the city of San Jose to La Perla Del Sur, followed by a boat trip through the mangroves of the Sierpe River to the pacific ocean, and finally to the small beach town of Rincon De San Josecito where the Ocean Forest Eco Lodge is located on the Osa Peninsula. 

This place is a gem on the edge of the ocean , with tranquil gardens, lodge cabins and open air dining, all surrounding a three story pagoda for activity practice or general relaxation. The staff are wonderful, the food is fresh and nourishing, and the feeling is laid back and at the same time energizing. You are completely immersed in nature, rich in diversity, and always active in every way imaginable.

The ocean water is so warm and clear, and abundant with marine life. The forest interior is home to various species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and beautiful tropical birds. I felt very at peace during my stay and hope to visit again in the future. The trip was simply amazing and I recommend it to anyone looking to feel invigorated by their surroundings.

I am a long time yoga teacher and retreat leader from Oregon. I just led my first retreat at Ocean Forest and it was a truly wonderful, magical, and nourishing experience! To be off the grid and immersed in the wild life of the rainforest was a dream come true. I brought my two kids and a group of 10 retreaters. We had the retreat/nature adventure of a lifetime! 
The yoga space of the Lapa Lapa Lodge  is really unique and beautiful. We heard monkeys and macaws as we practiced. 
We went on a Corcovado tour and saw so many animals and birds. We had monkeys and scarlet macaws around the retreat center regularly. We saw toucans turtles and dolphins! The near by playa Josecito was perfect for swimming and floating. The snorkeling trip was also fantastic. Spectacular sunsets. The staff was so kind and attentive. The food was delicious and nutritious obviously made fresh with love and care. 
Ocean Forest is a nature lovers dream come true. I hope to return with another group soon!

If you want to get away from the rat race, come here!  Nature at its finest, no crowds, beautiful food.   You will return with a new spirit!  The sounds of the rainforest will mesmerize you completely.  Highly recommend visiting the Osa at Ocean Forest!

Such good fortune to land here.  We made a last minute decision to spend a few nights on the Osa Peninsula at the end of a 3 week visit to CR, and so glad we landed at Ocean Forest. The boat ride from Sierpe was part of the joy, and the parking there in Sierpe was no problem at all.

If you are looking to get away from it all, this could be your place.  We added an additional night and already are planning a longer stay.  This lodge is a slightly further boat ride from Sierpe, past Drake Bay.  You’re dropped on a calm beach a bit north of the property as the beach break is rougher in front of Ocean Forest.

The wifi works fine.  Beds were great, wonderfully nice sheets and pillows.  Our room was 2nd floor (most seemed to be) with massive screens, so you feel like you are sleeping right in the jungle.  The only negative was that our room adjoined another so it was not super private, but we survived.  Fruit and medicinal plans are all over the property, in fact the owner is a rain forest preservation activist and author of the book Rainforest Medicine, which I discovered on the bookshelf, and started into.  I’ve ordered a copy for my return home.

You’ll probably want all the meals as there’s not many other choices.  The food was simple and delicious.  My partner had no problem eating gluten and dairy free. The staff were a particular highlight.  Very friendly, helpful and so accommodating. 

On property is a stunningly beautiful yoga space in a beautiful open air building (i’ll add photos)

Oh la la I had such a wonderful stay!! I had an amazing wooden bungalow in front of the ocean, very comfortable, clean and cosy...I had no mosquito problems and I slept like a baby listening to the magic sound of the ocean and the animals..it was a dreamy stay.
It's a wild place sorrounded by nature...you can have looooong walks on the beach or the interior...you can go kayaking and searching for waterfalls in a river not far away...it's very close to corcovado and isla del cano...there's a big yoga room full of good energy..
The food was simple, healthy and good, the staff was very nice...I rapidly felt to be in family..I really felt at home.
The owner is an amazing special person...an Amazon guide, specialist of rainforest cultures and medicine who has lived with three different tribes in the Amazon and who is engaged in many actions to defend and support their life, territory and traditions. 
My stay was perfect...i could relax, make a lot of activities and I learned so many things about plants, traditions, permaculture...jungle religions and rituals...in the lodge there were many monkeys, birds...I even saw whales from the beach!!! I have been sorrounded by nature and culture for eight days and I come back home feeling new..lighter, conscious, calmer and happier

Ive been making the trek down to Ocean Forest Ecolodge almost every year since my first trip in 2018. I first visited in Ocean Forest April 2019, stayed for 7 days and fell in love with the resort. My next stay was in June 2021, that time I stayed for 14 days, and my last trip was in January 2022 for another 7 day adventure. Every time I visit there I find new things to fall in love with. The scenery, the animals, the sounds. Great nutritious and healthy food, wonderful people and unforgettable memories. I cant wait to get down there again to relax, heal, laugh, make lifelong friends, and truly get away from it all.

Ocean Forest Ecolodge is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. From the moment I walked through the front gate from the beach, I knew I was in a special place. The cabins and lodge are in a beautiful rainforest. The walking paths are lined with various fruit trees, flowers and medicinal plants. My husband and I were lucky to be able to stay in one of the cabins overlooking the ocean. It was elegant, yet simple and natural. Every evening a group of the monkeys came into the trees around the cabin to play and eat, and at night we could hear the sound of the ocean. There are many activities offered to visitors, but we only went on one trip by boat away from the lodge to Corcovado National Park, which was great. But what we really enjoyed was going on day hikes from the lodge and swimming in the ocean which was very gentle. 
     I think the other thing that makes this such a wonderful place is the people who live there and care for the lodge and the land. Every person we met was so kind, genuine and seemed to take great joy in sharing this place with us. 
    Finally, I have to mention the food. The meals are obviously prepared with care -- so delicious and healthy!  
    I loved this lodge and the rainforest. There is an indescribable feeling there- beyond the outward beauty– which is what I will remember most.

The Osa Peninsula is THE gem of Costa Rica, and this Ecolodge is ideally located in a spectacular, quiet, and wildlife-filled area. Scarlet Macaws are common, as are monkeys, and tons of interesting plants. The food is fabulous, and there is great access to Corcovado National Park and other sites. It is quite unique in that it is a very holistic experience - the staff is knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. There is a yoga studio/relaxation area that is one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever been inside. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Amazing Ecolodge in an Amazing Place

Staying at Ocean Forest Ecolodge Retreat is like getting a wonderful relaxing massage the whole time. The food is delisciously fresh and healthy, but also very nourishing. Everybody working here has a big heart and a big smile. A very safe swimming and snorkeling beach is just a 15 Minutes walk away, but you can also jump in right in front of the Ecolodge, and watch the sunset every night. The most comfortable beds of CR (no joke)! What a profound and inspiring connection with nature. I will be back soon!

Paradise

What a fascinating place! The feeling of deep connection with nature arises almost immediately. the beautiful noises of the jungle paired with the sound of the sea result in the perfect musical mix. the accommodations are very lovingly designed and are always clean and tidy. The botanical garden around the area gives a first good insight into the fascinating flora. What I liked best, however, was the staff. They are consistently helpful and genuinely friendly. Would I come back again? I don't have to think for a second. Anytime and immediately!
