I m surprised  to see the 3.5 point only. This place is clean well organised and definitely worth  a visit.  Food is good as well.  The view to the garden from our room through the full glass walls was beautiful.  We loved to sit outside in the evenings drinking our jus nenas.
The owner Onong is a great guy, speaks  english very well and does everything for you to enjoy you stay. Also doing private tours to the area.  I m so happy we finally booked this place, we even stayed one extra night. Onong also helped us when our flight got cancelled. He called the airline to make sure we get the refund. 
The tour we did with him was superb. Climbing the Locon vulcano and visit many beautiful nearby sites. He even took us to a secret place - sorry cant tell.  He also offered transfer to the airport on our last morning.

Great place and amazing owner!

This place is a bit of a has been.  Nice bungalows in a great garden setting but, the ants and insects are winning the battle.  There were holes in the floor where the bugs drive on in for the night and the mattress was horrendous.  Needless to say, It was a rough night!! There must be better options out there. 

Seriously crappy matress

We were very disappointed in our accommodation at Onongs; our three rooms were badly maintained and not clean. The setting was pleasant and the dining room comfortable. However dining was difficult as we were there over New Year when the kitchen was closed for three days and food choices limited.  There wasn't even the option of eating in town as most restaurants were also closed for the holiday, something we wish we had been told about when we booked. 
However the owner and his son were very pleasant and helpful, sorting out a microlet for us all which was good fun. We had a day doing the sights and then hired the same bus and driver to take us to Tangkoko.

Very helpful and friendly owner, accommodation poor

We stayed for 3 nights at onong's, we arrived late and made our reservation through whatsapp.
Everyrthing worked out well as we arrived and we were happy that we could still order some food.
The rom was spacious with bog windows to all sides sn a nice view into the garden, there was a bathroom with hot shower snd a balcony. Mattress was good with a intact mosquito net and a big sheet as it got a bit cooler during the night.
The owner is such a lovely person, he helps you with arranging things.
The hotel is located little outside of the city center but it is nice and calm and you can rent a motorbike at the hotel or grab a GRAB. 
We would stay there again. 

Nice place in a beautiful garden

The rooms are very comfortable, with their own bathroom and shower with hot water. The bed is very comfortable and everything is very clean. In addition, the enclave is beautiful, the rooms are wooden houses quite separate from each other, so that you do not disturb each other with the neighbors. Apart from this, the attention of Onong and the staff is excellent. The breakfast is excellent. Onong himself guided us on a couple of excursions and was fantastic, a man who knows the area very well and who does his best to have a good time and be comfortable away.

Genius is a genius.

We have stayed at Onong's Palace many times in the last year and we love it! The staff are really friendly, particularly the owner, Onong. He even prepares special, fantastic vegan meals for us when we give him a little notice. 

The key attraction though is the rooms; glass walled on 3 sides, but privately positioned, and looking out from the top of a densley forested hill. The views are stunning, and you feel like you're totally immersed in nature. 

The eating/social area is also great. It is a large wooden structure filled with beautiful, interesting, original carvings made by Onong himself. It looks out over a forested hillside towards Tomohon where you can see and do lots of interesting things.

A great price, beautiful rooms, really friendly hosts, great food, and a charming, friendly well-behaved dog. It's great!

Awesome forest retreat

We stayed here for 4 nights and loved it. Price value is great. The whole compound is very well taken care of. Bring a book to read on the porch and just relax. you can walk to town in about 10-20 minutes. There were a lot of funerals when we went therefore, brining ear plugs for the night is a good idea. Also bug repellent for the evenings.
Onong is a great host and can organise trips for you. And he makes sure there is enough beer in the fridge. Also, the food is great. I miss the pinapple pancakes.
I would definately stay there again.

Beauiful Quite Paradise

We slept one night at Onong's, from where we got to Manado. Onong is an interesting person with whom we talk very well and he is a wood artist, on the terrace where we eat there are several of his works on display which we really enjoyed. We had dinner and breakfast, the wife and the boy who works there are very kind. The bungalow is very nice with a beautiful view of the garden, on the outer veranda we had another work by Onong. The interior is not very spacious, there is the mosquito bed on the bed, but the upper sheet, we used our microfiber towels and over the leopard blanket. One would have to think of a solution to protect the dirty mosquito beds that came from here. Onong Palace seems to be a nice place to spend a few nights, but it's just a nice place to sleep, but we've seen it in the middle of the night, and it's been a nice place to spend a few nights, but we've been missing a lot of vegetation.

Beautiful bungalows in the jungle!

We visited North Sulawesi in August of 2017. Our first few nights, we stayed at Onong's Palace. It was a beautiful, quiet location. The food was good, and the owner was incredible. He took us on a tour of the Minahasa region himself! He was very knowledgeable, and the tour was interesting. We learned a great deal about this part of Sulawesi.  Finally, we were unable to secure a transfer back to our dive resort in Manado, so he drove us there himself. Truly amazing service!

Exceptional customer service

Home away from home in Tomohon. The jungle cottages are in a beautiful jungle setting great for bird watching. The owners can help with bike/car rentals or tours and trips around the highlands. Food is also great and breakfast offers the best pancakes in North Sulawesi. Some of the bathrooms aren't brilliant but much better than other places I've stayed in Sulawesi. Bring some warmer clothes for the evening. If you stay on a public holiday you will hear some celebratory noise from the town below so bring ear plugs.
