Semara Resort and Spa Seminyak

We have just returned from a week at the Maca Villas staying in a one bedroom villa. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and we stayed in Villa No 2, which was very near reception, the main pool and the Mase restaurant. It was a great location and even though we were near 'the action', we were never disturbed by outside noise or music. The staff at the complex were all extremely pleasant and helpful. One day we arrived back after lunch in the middle of a storm and the security man at reception rushed to meet us with umbrellas as soon as he saw us and escorted us to our Villa. On our last day, the driver who took us to the airport even parked the car and helped us with our luggage to reception as we were staying at the Airport Novotel for a few hours as our flight didn't depart until 10.30pm and we had to check out at noon from Maca Villas. These are two examples of the high level of service offered every day. Our Villa was clean, well appointed and very comfortable. It is very hard with Bali's harsh weather to keep the Villas looking like new all the time, particularly any timber used in decks, door trims etc. Our bathroom was huge and all facilities functioned properly. We had a 'turn down' service each evening, which included spraying for mosquitoes and we did not have any problems with them. Our pool was great, big enough to really enjoy, and we found it very refreshing. We thought the water temperature was perfect. The Villas have a number of mini marts nearby (one next door) and a couple of coffee shops. There are numerous restaurants (some within walking distance - 5 minutes) and any time we needed a car to take us further afield, reception was happy to organise it. Three restaurants within walking distance we enjoyed were Saigon Street, Ling Lings and The Butcher's Club. The only negative comment I have is that their laundry service was quite expensive (including not so good ironing) as we couldn't find a laundry on the street within walking distance which was unfortunate as there are so many of them on the Island elsewhere. All in all, a great stay and we would certainly stay there again. Well done to everyone at Maca Villas.
