Ergül Motel

This 'motel' is nothing like I expected a motel to be. It's hidden behind a fuel station on a typical busy Turkish main street but when we drove in it was like entering an oasis. Sharing an entrance gate with another motel meant that the whole place was surrounded by gardens. The owner, who speaks very good English, had already earned our gratitude as he checked we were ok by mobile as we were late arriving as we had followed our satnav's instructions for the shortest route and when we asked we were given instructions for a fantastic place to eat that stayed open late which was near the motel. The suite was a real surprise as it was spacious, quiet, spotless, comfortable, modern, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed in it. You could quite happily stay in this self-catering apartment for a week and lack nothing. We were also advised how to find the beach which was through the gardens and just across the lane. Whilst the seafront has limited pebble beach there are plenty of places to lie down and to swim from, pool type steps being in place at regular intervals to help people get into the absolutely clear water. The whole place has a charming 'art deco' feel to it with some of the houses clearly built that way. It felt friendly and safe and like we had stumbled on it by accident although Turkish people know of it and use it regularly. The whole 'motel' package was a joy to experience and this place must not be mistaken for some soul-less concrete box at the side of the road when in reality it's the perfect holiday spot. I would have no hesitation at all in recommending a stay at Ergul Motel.
