Ostrovito Morushko

At the end of June we stayed 5 nights at the Ostrovito Moryushko and enjoyed it very much. It's a cosy hotel in a quiet street just 5 min. walk from the Monastery. Our room was situated on the ground floor with a stunning view over the lake to the Monastery. Irina, the owner, is an excellent host. She did everything to make us feel comfortable and when we had to leave early in the morning for a guided tour she prepared an early breakfast just for my husband and me. The breakfast is very rich with local specialties and during our 5 days'stay we always tasted something new. We recommend to book half pension as dinner at the Ostrovito Moryushko is good and far away the best place to eat in this small town. Elena, the lady at the reception, was always ready to help us with a smile. From Italy it's quite a long journey up to Solovetsky Islands but whenever we return we're sure to stay in this inviting place. Two general suggestions: when you visit the Monastery have lunch at their canteen,it's tasty, at a good price and people are very friendly there.As to the guided tours, we booked them at the Pilgrim Centre linked to the Monastery. Touring together with the Russian pilgrims was a very emotional experience that gave a special plus to our trip. As they offer just guided tours in Russian language we decided to be accompanied for three days also by an English speaking lady. They were very well prepared and we got lots of interesting useful information. An unforgettable stay!!
