This hotels is exceptional with a wonder scenary and a welcoming environment. The staff are wonderful and generally human. They switch from international to local conversations. The food is good. There is great improvement in the guests rooms.

The staff was amazing and extremely accommodating. The facility was very clean and security was great. Love the restaurant inside the hotel. Additionally, love the currency exchange inside the hotel.

We were treated as Kings. Clean accommodation rooms and mouth watering food, a hotel surrounded with a golf course. Superb service. Keep it up.You make Malawi really the warm heart of Africa with very friendly staff.

I have wanted to stay at Sunbird since 1990 but could never afford it. Possibly my last trip to Malawi I thought I would treat myself. I was very disappointed. The hotel is run down and the restaraunt had after 3 selections not one available. If returning to Mzuzu I will book at the Grand Palace as much better value for money

The hotel has recently been revamped inside. The rooms are really nice. Good quality finishes. TV sucks unless you want to watch 26 football channels! 

Dining is OK - by Malawi standards I suppose not too bad. Menu is limited with the waitress telling you every day which items are NOT available. A real winner is the oxtail - man, it was good!!!!!

The breakfast offering needs to improve , the dinner food quality is good but the breakfast options are not good and the preparation needs to improve and quality needs an improvement.The rooms are comfortable and clean, old school but very comfortable.

Impressed with Linen. The sleep was very comfortable. The service from check in to checkout in all departments was good. Liked strictness on the Covid 19 measures giving assurance of safety during this pandemic period.

I stayed for just one night on business.  The hotel is next to the golf course in a quiet area.  It is indeed an old style concrete hotel from the early 70s.  But the rooms are comfortably furnished.  I did have to change rooms to get one with a working air conditioner.  Other than that, everything worked.  Food was quite good in the restaurant.

The hotel is expensive for what it is, but all hotels in Mzuzu ar pricey.

The hotel is the establishment in Mzuzu. Rooms and infrastructure are a bit aged but still decent enough. Restaurant offers good service for dinner and breakfast. Staffs are good. Recommended for a night stay for business or touring.

Probably the best Mzuzu has to offer

Comfortable place in Mzuzu

We have been visiting this hotel off and on for nearly twenty years. Over time it has never disappointed. More of a business hotel than a tourist one -but then, there is not much touristy about Mzuzu- it offers clean and comfortable rooms of decent size at a fair price.  Excellent and friendly staff, a lavish breakfast and an acceptable restaurant complete the package. If you are looking for a somewhat dated but pleasant place to stay in Mzuzu look no further. 

Still a solid choice

Great hotel close to the center of town. We had to take taxis to dinner, but they were not expensive - 2000 to 4000 kwacha. The hotel staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great with fresh Mzuzu coffee in a french press. The gym was also perfect for an after-work treadmill run. The hotel is part of a chain in Malawi - it is a bit dated but it was comfortable and a nice place to come back after long days of traveling in the car. It's probably the most expensive place in the area so probably more appropriate for business travelers. We went out for dinner every night.
