Shangrila Guest House

I arrived alone in Hong Kong in December, and must admit I was somewhat dubious after reading some reviews of the notorious Chungking mansions. On arrival it can be rather daunting finding your guest house (the building is divided into 4 blocks A-D I believe...) and there are a lot of hawkers outside who will try to sell you everything - ignore them and make your way straight up, and you will be just fine! On arrival to the Shangrila guest house I was shown to my room by a very pleasant man; I had a lovely comfortable double bed, shower/toilet all in one (common in Asia) and must admit I was pleasantly surprised. My room was immaculately presented, spotlessly clean (and cleaned daily, which I was not expecting!) I was even provided with a tv, kettle and coffee. The wifi signal was strong throughout and the room was quiet at night. Everything is within walking distance or a short MTR ride from here; the building is located in Tsim Sha Tsui, and within walking distance to the ferry terminals to HK island, Mongkok (for excellent street food), the avenue of stars and the various markets located around the area.b I would highly, highly recommend this place and will gladly stay again if/ when I return to HK.
