Have seen personally 7 hostels in Guanajuato. Slept first at one, but when I saw this one, just switched for it.
The place is in the historical area, close to everything. One of the best located hostels for sure. Has a nice backyard terrace and nice living room and kitchen. 
Pros (good): 
- location
- clean
- perfect living room and kitchen
- the terrace

Cons (to improve):
- only two bathrooms. Even if they are nice and clean, they are not enough
- the noise at night at one of the dorms - there is a club next door and you feel like sitting on the bass. Not cool. Isolation would help a bit. If you're tired or have good headphones, you might not hear it.

In general, I loved that hostel and I'm going back. 

The best in Guanajuato

We had reserved from March of this year for 20 of October enought time I think to have everything prepare for my trip and do not have any inconvenience for my arrival, I had plan to went with my friends for the festival "Cervantino" my friend that it was coming with me, 4 days before arrival get in contact with the hostel to ask for frequent questions for travelers  (check in, check out, location, ways to arrive transportation) they said that we can just arrived until 6 after they will cancel the reservation, so she ask why because we all ready paid the hole stay so the answer from them was that they will cancel our reservation under the excuse that we were problematic people (JUST FOR ASK) notice that if she didn't call before, the they of the arrival they will left us in the streets with no place to stay, after this happened I get in contact also with them because they cancelled the reservation and they said they will refund the total amount, they didn't refund me the total amount so I try to get contact with them and they block me (this is for sure the worst experience I had ever had with things like this talking about accommodation) 
This is unacceptable also discriminate against people they don't even know and I very sure that it was because of the high demand they have in the cervantino festival, I have paid a very small amount and I am sure they sold it for so much money
ALSO NOTICE THAT ANYONE CAN MAKE THAT THEM CAN CANCEL YPIR RESERVATION

For these days it was almost everything full and expensive than the price I get so these mess up am my plans for the trip that was awful

If you need more information, I have all the conversations we have with them that prove they act in a wrong way

So disappointed about a person that says it have been working for more than 10 years in the hospitality industry

Cancel 4 days before arrival 

Central hostel with nice owner, dorms and private rooms, common space inside and out, unfortunately not very clean, while Cervantino is very noisy, as the dorms are right down the street, Spanish knowledge advised

Among the affordable accommodation options offered by Guanajuato, El Guanajuato Hostel is one of them, es BBB. It has a good location near the city center, a very friendly staff who is always willing to help you if you need anything, a quality/price relationship is very acceptable.

BBB, what more can I ask for?

Gina is the one who takes care of the hostel: it communicates well, helps you and anticipates problems. The hostel is small but comfortable and can certainly be even better. It has hot water and in time walks through the historic center of the city. The internet needs a repeater to work better on the top floor. The cafe could have bread and butter instead of toast.

I used to stay here years ago but did not like the staff. I don't know if the owners changed or just the management but this is a much better hostel than it was years ago. 

The biggest impression was made with the staff, which appears to be a woman and her two sons? (just a guess) She cut us a deal on a private room and was just a friendly and helpful as can be. 

I would stay here again.

Friendly staff and great location!!

When I went to Guanajuato without reservation and through the central streets I found this small hostel that is very comfortable and affordable, allowing my first experience in a hostel to be filled with great memories, as well as the person attending is very kind, and even guides you so that you can find the best way to move around the city.

In terms of quality, service, cleanliness and hospitality, it is excellent. It is located in the historic center, so there is no need for transportation, there are facilities for one to go around the city on tours with extra payment and for being a guest of the hostel they make a small discount. The prices are affordable and even if there are more than 2 days of accommodation, in which they make a discount. They have continental breakfast included and service of clean towels. Very recommended.

Excellent accommodation site.

The location was very nice and the hospitality was excellent. We can access every single part of this amazing city by foot, the beds were comfy, and we had a private room for very cheap. The personnel was really helpful and nice (they gave us a cadena). A very good potential and as they're going to improve it it's gonna be great, I can tell!

Nice little Hostal

The place has a great common area and has potential for good vibes. Kitchen was basic, but functional. 
Unfortunately, the staff wasn't overly friendly and I was actually charged more than their website's price. 
Dorm room was simple, but nice with two small balconies allowing it be airy during the day, but potentially a little loud at night. Large lockers for each bed.
