We didn't stay here, but we ate here twice for dinner and had a morning coffee. We probably should've stayed here! The staff were very kind, even let us store our luggage at their hotel as non-guests, when our own hotel didn't have an adequate space. Great internet connection. Food was fabulous, took for the dishes to get to our table, but worth it. Didn't take credit cards in the restaurant, which would've been helpful. Nice selection of alcohols. But thank you for helping us enjoy our stay in Tanga!

I have being to this hotel couple of weeks back  with friends Very nice rooms and clean as well cooperative staff team, We were well entertained at the hotel outdoor restaurant & Bar  with kariokee on Thursday night. We a great stay since we are in Tanga for Business but entertained as well. I would recommend people to hear once they come to Tanga for business or  leisure.... finest....

I had a family room with 2 large beds. The room and the bathroom very both very clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was sufficient.
Located in a good quiet area. I would definitely book this again.

I chose the Nyumbani despite its past 2/10 reveiw rating. The site is a hotel in East Africa and does have its features that can seem a little funky to westerners. The pool is one these areas. However, the staff is kind and gracious. They go out of their way to help and make guests comfortable.

BEST HOTEL TO BE FOR BUSINESS/LEISURE

Good Value for Money

I was able to do business from Japan. I didn't expect much as it is a provincial city, but the rooms were quiet and generally clean. The restaurant was also fly-free and served Tanzanian food. There was no lift, but the receptionist took my luggage up to my room. They also came to collect our luggage when we checked out. Swahili seems to be the main language, but we had no problem communicating in English. The rooms are not all perfect like in developed countries, but there is hot water from the shower, the ocean view is good, and we were able to rest in peace.

An experience beyond expectations

During our trip to Tanga, arrived at night and directly went to Nyumbani Hotel, Rooms were clean but average, their funny setup is that the room had a transparent glass which can make you see inside the washroom which can be convenient for couples only and not everyone, seems the food at their restaurant was not fresh as got stomach upset after having dinner there.

The hotel is located at the centre which is great  however the Phone didn’t work in the rooms, the shower was absolutely terrible, and some mainatinace issues. Even though we had reported  these before we went out on retrun nothing was done. they charge us the full price and only comment they had was samahani. i would not recommend anyone to stay there as some of staff are also rude and when u put in a request its nit done.

very disappointed with service and lack of hospitality

I stayed at the Numbani Tanga Hotel while on a business trip to Tanga. It was very clean and the staff very helpful.  It's perfectly fine for a night or two. The restaurant was closed when I was there as it was being renovated so breakfast was provided in the hotel's bar next door.  We also had dinner there and it was good.  The on-site gym is quite hot as there is no AC but the equipment all works and there is a 'women-only' time if women travelers prefer to exercise on their own.
The floors are tile, which I like as they are easy to be kept clean. Another hotel I stayed at had carpet, which in the hot, humid climate is not a good idea.

2/10 May Be Hatsh

First off the reception staff tried to charge us double of what we had seen advertised online. Not a good start but as we were tired from the long drive we asked to see the room and decided to stay. On closer inspection it was clear maintenance is needed!! Phone Didn’t work even though we had reported  it three days running!! We were told it would be fixed each morning and that never occurred making ordering room service a pain!  I had to use my own phone to order room service which they got wrong three times in a row!!  I had to end up walking downstairs with a piece of paper writing down my order. Not good at all!!!!!!! 

Staff would constantly knock on the door for room cleaning  or enter without knocking whilst we were still in bed.  This was extremely unacceptable! 

There were more workers than  guests in the hotel and unfortunately only 10% of them got the orders right and the rest had a lot of attitude!!  They roll their eyes at you and made us feel so unwelcome. It costs more than other hotels in the area and it comes with a lot of attitude and rudeness from staff!

Not only that be aware that a very loud band performs in the garden, keeping us awake til 3am. Parking was also a big issue and again we received attitude from staff when asking where to park. 

 My advice is reduce the number of staff and actually hire people who know what they’re doing and care about their guests!!! 

The chef and food were not great  and the breakfast was the worst I’ve ever had and I’ve travelled a lot!! 

 Not worth your money!!
