Zakinn Zanzibar Hotel - Dar es Salaam

Keep in mind it is a budget hotel. As such, it is not perfect but it is great value. I stayed for two nights. There is a supermarket next door a pharmacy across the street, atms close by. The Kilimanjaro Express bus stop is one block away. Restaurants everywhere. The fantastic ten to ten supermarket and street food vendor is a block away. The area is safe. The room was clean and the air conditioning was very strong. I was happy to find a ceiling fan as well. All the staff were extremely friendly including housekeeping who greeted me at every pass. The airlines lost my luggage and I had trouble contacting them by phone. The ladies at the front desk attempted to call for me using their local phones but were unsuccessful. They contacted the manager who then contacted a messenger to go to the airport and bring it back within the hour. The price of the messenger was VERY reasonable and I saved time, money, and hassle doing it myself. The breakfast was good and freshly made. Remember that this is a budget hotel. The friendliness of the staff and the above and beyond service I received will bring me back. The one recent review about the receptionist not being friendly is an anomaly. That person obviously expects 5 star service from a budget hotel.
