Riad Hikaya

As soon as we came in from the street, it was clear we had found a special place. Wadia greeted us, gave us mint tea, and some time to catch our breath. He then laid out a map of Marrakesh on the table and showed us the key sights and the best way to reach them on foot. As we chatted, someone from the team had spirited our luggage up to our room - a hideaway that looked straight out of the One Thousand and One Nights, with a canopied bed, and inlaid tables and - in a lovely touch - slippers laid out for us and a bowl of fruit.  The Riad is strikingly private and quite enchanting. Every morning, the ample breakfast had some different touch - whether it was Moroccan bread, or a new variety of home-baked cakes to add to the pastries, yoghurt and honey from the high Atlas.  What really sets the hotel apart is the kindness of the staff, who anticipate your needs and go the extra mile to make your stay perfect. It really was one of the highlights of our magical visit to Marrakesh.
