Villa Aigli Anafi

We spent an unforgettable two weeks in the house.  The most secluded location with beautiful views from the terrace and within walking distance of the city and a bus stop a minute's walk away.  We were hosted by all family, with smiles and ready to help at any time.  The house has everything you need to prepare food (shop 10 minutes), always clean linen, hot water.  We highly recommend choosing this place for a relaxing holidays. 

It is not easy to get to Anafi, because the ferryboat has really uncomfortable times. We tried to get there with the most convenient boat from Krete, the Prevelis. It was supposed to arrive in the island at 23:40, but there was a 4 hours delay, as usual in August as Katerina sad me.
You can immagine how happy we was to find on the deck Irini, the nice girl that hosted us, to pick us up and lead to the beautiful studio in which we were lodged all our holiday time!!!
The house was beautiful indeed! A wide barrel voluted volume, with little kitchen, shower,  just 5 minutes walking from the Hora, the little only centre of the island.
The studio is a new brand one, cleaned every day, furnished with taste. 
The terrace offers an astonishing view towards the Islands south to Anafi and  the candid Hora and the so blue sea. 
Sometime you can see Krete at sunset time. 
The kindness and hospitality of Irini follows you all you holiday time, like an angel.

I want to add some words about the Island of Anafi. 
Anafi is the last of the Cyclades in the ferry boat itineraries, last but not least. Very loved by greek that represent about the half of the tourists in the island.
The south coast is full of beautiful sandy beach in which you feel very relaxed. The sea is perfect for swimmers like me, clean and calm waters. The Hora is a lovely withe cycladic country. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes, and a bakery that cook every days different deliciousness. The rest of the island is a harsh wonderful landscape, that would be understood better than you can (give a look to the book “Greek Island Life: Fieldwork on Anafi” if you find it in the island!), and offer the most beautiful beach of Livoskopos.
We love this place.

Eirini from Villa Aigli had me before I even left home, with her warm friendly emails arranging to meet me at the port.  When I got there, I felt like I was meeting an old friend, which is just how she treated me the whole time I was at Villa Aigli.  Nothing was ever too much trouble and the room was kept spotless.  It was a split level studio, which was nice, with 2 large beds, plenty big enough for 4 people, spacious, light and airy and a very reasonable price.  I didn't have any problem with the mattress - some reviews say that they are uncomfortable - although my time there was spent hiking around the island and I could probably have fallen asleep on the stone floor at the end of the day....
Villa Aigli isn't actually in Chora, it's a short walk away which isn't an issue at all, and the patio in front of the room has a  great view to the village.  And behind the studios is a great spot for star gazing, if that's your thing.  
Eirini's partner drives the island's only bus, which picks guests up from the port, and there is a bus stop at the end of the road too if you want to use the bus to get around.
Villa Aigli is a lovely place, run by genuine, kind people and I know I will be going back.

Anafi is like one big family - locals and tourists alike - and provides a quiet space to relax. The wonderful Irene met us at the port and then it was into the bus that snaked up the hill to Chora. Villa Aigli is a short 5 minute walk from the village. Our room had 2 queen-sized beds, one downstairs and the other in the loft. The room was brand new, beautifully decorated, with a great bathroom with enclosed shower. Lots of light and air inside and loads of space outside on the shared terrace which overlooks the mountains and the sea. We had a fantastic time and would recommend this place without hesitation.

The space is very nice, big and indepented. Very good price, only 10 min from chora and with a nice view to chora. The owner is very friendly. However the only default which is that the matresses are bad quality. However despite that all the rest is perfect.

Economical accomodation

Good:
- Great location and view (pics), close to the town. Located in uphill therefore going to and from with by foot it might be a little tiring. 
- They care about a little cat ❤️ although the island does not have a vet, a pharmacy or a proper medical center...

Bad:
- There was a difficult communication with the hostess, tending to repeat the same and same details (e.g, when you check-out, when you will pay etc.).
- When I asked to charge up my PHEV car (and paying of course for the service), both host and hostess were reluctant to allow us to charge it from the power outlet (it uses a normal house plug) because it "could melt the cables". I kindly explained to them, following also my engineering background, that if the fuses are set up correctly the cables won't melt. I already had set up my charging power to the half to protect the installation. They refused to listen and we were forced to ask all around the island to find a place to charge, leading us to lose time from our vacations. I believe the hospitality is evaluated when somebody can locate him/herself outside of his/her comfort zone and help the visitor. This was not the case in our stay.
- Closet below the sink had a bad smell.
- The bathroom was full of salt stains (pics).
- The kitchen did not have too much space (pic).

FYI:
- They ask your to pay the full amount from the second/third day of stay although it is not communicated and agreed beforehand. 
- The mattress was soft. For me it is not OK, but for other people might be.
- The apartments are far expensive than what they offer, it is in accordance with the greedflation Greek practices of the market.

In a great location, with average hospitality

The accommodation was quite good, but communication with hostess was very BAD!!!! totally incredible and stressful. She did not stick to the promises about check out time and 
seemed generally all over the place about payment sum! Greek reality!
