The cottages are done very tastefully having the best view on Amorgos. The host is also very helpful. They provide potable water from a tap outside the reception. That was very helpful avoiding brining lots of water from the store and also reducing the number of plastic bottles.

Pano Gitonia is truly lovely - it’s even better than the official hotel pictures! I stayed for five nights in the Almond Room and it was like a piece of paradise! Loads of space, gorgeous views from your private terrace, spectacular sunsets, and a well-equipped kitchen so I could enjoy the fresh local produce I had bought in town. And Theo was very helpful and kind with lots of good suggestions of things to do. Even though it’s at the north end of Amorgos, I found it a great base to explore the whole island - very easy to get around as long as you have your own car.

We stay in Pano Gitonia just for five nights, but we loved this Place. Besides the wonderful view, Anna's studio is lovely and you could enjoy the best privacy and magic silence. Theodoros is a very good (and patient too!)  host. We loved Pano Gitonia so much (and also the donkey!)

All the TripAdvisor reviews are so positive and they are right! Pano Gitonia has been our favourite stay during our Greek island hopping adventure.

We stayed in “A Room with a View” and what a stunning view! Sunsets were spectacular rivalling those tourist infested sunset spots on Santorini. The apartment was charming and full of character yet modern with all amenities.

Theo is a delightful host and helped us whenever we asked.

This is THE accomodation we would choose on Amorgos.

Great place in Amorgos, ideally located above the small but animated town of Aigiali. 
A number of activities around: beach, hiking, reading in the sun, sunset watching, discovery of the island ...
The accommodation is very clean and with modern equipment. 
Theodoros is always there for help and advices.

Pano Gitano was perhaps the most charming place that we stayed at during our travels around the Greek isles. We wanted a quiet place with a nice view were we could spend a few nights working. The view was second to none, and way more spectacular in reality compared to the pictures that we saw beforehand. We stayed in Anna, a room next to the reception, at the lowest level. Thanks to the proximity to the reception we had decent WiFi for working. The room was also very charming, with enough space for a bed, two small desks and a table with a seating section, a kitchenette with cutlery, dishsoap and electric stove top and a mini-fridge. 

The hike down and back from the town (Aegiali) would be strenuous without a car. Don’t forget to try To Limani Kantinas, their family restaurant, which is excellent (we ate there many times), as well as Kamara, just a walk up behind the place, where you can enjoy the best sunset on the terrace.  We also took a ride to the nearby villages: Lagada and Tholaria as well, which also have great dining options and a walk through the historic town fabric.
Lastly, Theo was a great host, very helpful with anything we asked about, and super friendly. He has a collection of hand-made trinkets at the reception, so don't forgot to grab one as a memory - it will remind you of that sweet place when you get home. We look forward to coming back again!



We’ve been visiting Amorgos each year for 5 years and Pano Gitonia is by far the best accommodation we have found in Aegiali, Amorgos and definately one of the best place we stay in Greece!

 

The hotel is situated in the traditional and picturesque village of Potamos and all studios have spectacular views of the ocean (with sunsets) and Aegiali Bay. Each studio is unique with a different layout, aspect and tranquil outside seating areas. They are all fully equipped with everything you will need and more. The rooms are spacious and kept spotlessly clean and again they consider the environment by replacing bedding and towels when you want and not automatically every day.

Theo and Pukky are lovely hosts and Pukky’s artistic talents are to be seen throughout the resort which add to the special ambience of the place. They also offer free filtered water from the office that you can top-up anytime and this is a great way to lessen the plastic impact on the island. Theo will pick you up from the ferry if needed, even late in the evening. His family have been on the island for generations and he will provide you with valuable information, such as when and where you can find live Greek music. You might even get invited for a game of beach volleyball!

If you are planning a stay on this magical island, I would seriously recommend checking out Pano Gitonia!

 



Amorgos is an extremely beautiful island: fascinating landscapes, terrific beaches with crystal clear water, lots of history, picturesque villages, spectacular sunsets, delicious food and wonderful people. But if you want to add even more beauty to your visit, you have to stay at the Pano Gitonia, in Potamos, just above the port of Aegiali. Ddecorated with love and good taste, and taken care of by its owner Theo and his wife, cosy and comfortable, with a great view and colourful details, there is no better place to stay on Amorgos. I can highly recommend it!!!

We returned to Pano Gitonia for our third time, enjoying ourselves every bit as much as our previous visits.

Theo and Puki are very accommodating.  During this trip our stay was extended two nights due to ferry cancellations (high winds).  Although it meant moving rooms we were very grateful we had a place to stay (and realized Panorama is our new favourite room).  All the rooms are traditional in design, and very attractive, painted in bright blue and green with nice touches (e.g. colourful pillows) throughout.  Our terraces provided wonderful views to Aegiali and across the bay.  With the property facing west the sunsets are spectacular. 

While there are no meals available (breakfast or dinner) the small kitchenettes and fridge provide the tools necessary to prepare one’s own breakfast.  Alternatively there is one restaurant in Patamos and a number in the nearby port of Aegiali.

One of our special experiences is reconnecting with the donkey we have named Alex, who lives nearby.  Alex seems to really appreciate the apples we bring for him.   

We guess the ultimate assessment of a place is whether one would return.  Not only have we stayed at Pano Gitonia three times but we have already booked our room for next year.  Four trips (from Canada) to Amorgos in six years says it all about what we think of the island of Amorgos and the lodging at Pano Gitonia.

We have stayed 4 nights and highly recommand this authentic, romantic place ideally situated over Aegiali. A helpful and sympathic owner, Theo, gives you a warm welcome, you can't be better ! Thanks for all Theo.

There are no words to describe how beautiful this accomodation is. We stayed in A Room With A View for 5 nights and this property was hands down the most beautiful property we have stayed in Greece. 
The apartment is huge, self catering, and spotlessly clean. The owners, who are lovely, encourage recycling, which we love to see. 
The terrace is enormous & the view is completely uninterrupted. We spent every afternoon watching the sunset with a bottle of wine. 
Town can be reached by foot, but we hired a motorbike & this gave us the freedom to easily visit little beaches & the restaurants in other villages. We also ate at their restaurant a few days times, and it was just as amazing! 
Highly recommended. A must stay if visiting Amorgos.

Simply Stunning

Last year we stayed on Amorgos and had a really great time. During our stay there I met a Swiss guy during on a scuba dive, and he mentioned Pano Gitonia to me, and  this year we stayed there. 
I don't think I've ever made this comment before on TripAdvisor, but I was in two minds about writing a review because I want to make sure there is room availability when we we want to book again. 
If you want a bit of greek authenticity and a view of Aegiali to die for, then this is the place. Theo, the owner, is always available and incredibly helpful. The rooms are appointed in a traditional style, but have good bathrooms with high pressure showers and very comfortable beds. 
Kitchen facilities are all that you need with a large fridge and all necessary utensils and accessories.
A very efficient laundry service is also available.
Oh, just in case you get any ideas, we've already booked for 2020.
More than that there aren't many places that have a 79% 'Excellent' rating on TripAdvisor, and the numbers do not lie.
