Hotel Cumanda

Stayed here 4 nights and then 7 more two weeks later. Room #107/ single room. Paid $15 US per night plus $2 VAT. I reserved on Booking.com. If I had done it directly with the hotel it would have cost me $12 per night. Live and learn. Very clean operation. Beautiful common areas. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom but you only have hot water in the morning. After that it's freezing. 2 side tables and one chair. One working electrical outlet behind bed. Another one in the bathroom. Standard US 3-prong plug. Small balcony overlooking busy street. Next time I would get a room in the back. Flat-screen TV with only Spanish stations. Breakfast served only between 8 and 9 AM. Standard South American fare of cold cuts, cheese, coffee, bread, scrambled eggs and coffee with fresh juice. No heat and it got a little chilly in the evenings when the mists descended on the city. Tile floors. Plenty of blankets though. Great location. 5-minute walk from the old city which was a remarkable sight. I had no idea how pretty Quito was going to be. Lots of restaurants with $4 meals. After 3-weeks in Chile the prices here were a nice surprise. Great bus transport right around the corner. Twenty five-cents to ride. Bring US currency. Bring no bills larger than $20. They won't accept anything higher than that. No security problems. Staff is attentive and honest.
