Villa Salt Royal Palace

It started off a bit worryingly, we couldn't find the 'villa royal salt palace' - we were in the back of a tuk tuk searching the streets. My mate was a annoyed as he thought we would be closer to the river front, and when we couldn't even find the place he was pretty annoyed. Finally we had the right address, but the name on the hotel was wrong. We walked into the 'secret villa', and found that the hotel had changed it's name. Ok we had the right place. I was sent to room 101, and my mate was on the 4th floor. He was even more annoyed about all the stairs !! Things looked bleak. I checked out my room, and then walked up 4 floors to help with damage control. When I got to his room/floor he just looked at me and said "have a look at this' with a big smile on his face. his room was a monster !! 3 living areas, an (sort of) outdoor shower. The room was epic, and the whole 4th floor was his ! He was happy. I was also happy with my room. The staff (particularly Srey Touch) were fantastic, the brekky is cooked to order, the place was just fantastic. If I had to pick any faults, the fridge in my room (101) was too cold, even on the lowest (warmest) setting it still froze drinks overnight !, and my mates fridge didn't work in the penthouse. Also the pool (while lovely) was surprisingly cold. It certainly lowered your core temp after a long day in the cambodian sun. I've never been in a pool so cold before - but that might just be me. Anyway, highly recommend the place. It;s a $2 tuk tuk ride to the main drag, and the local driver is a nice safe driver. There's a smile mart on the corner for anything you need to buy (literally a 30 second walk), and there a few decent restaurants in the other direction that have western food as well and Cambodian. It turned out to be a great place, so great in fact that a third mate who booked into a different hotel (in 108 st) moved hotels after seeing ours ! Highly recommend !
