Very good hostel, first place I stayed in Cambodia, staff is very friendly and helpful! They organise a lot of activities and bus tickets, they have yoga at the hostel which was really good! 
The food is nice and very nice common area, lot of plants and nice decor! Walking distance from river and centre.

Easily the best value hostel we have stayed in so far in SEA. Really chill vibes. We booked a private room which was faultless and for the price almost felt like robbery! 

Great tours on offer, staff friendly and helpful and food was really good should you want to eat there.

Enjoyed 3 nights in kampots monkey republic. When reading reviews, please check the date. There are a small portion of dated negative reviews and I can honestly confirm we have experienced a great stay. 
Monkey republic grounds are stunning, the garden is beautiful, calm and relaxing.
The restaurant and bar is wonderful, and every single meal has had the plate licked clean. 
We stayed in a private room, which had both air conditioning AND a ceiling fan, tv, fridge, lockable safe and much more.
The ceiling fan is great for drowning out the sometimes slightly louder wildlife (birds) if you are a light sleeper like me. 
The windows are secure, and have a built in net if you wish to have your window left open. 
The hostel is located right in the middle of town and is a short walk or moped drive to the beaches.
There is even a big supermarket a stones throw away. 
Excursions and mopeds can be booked with the hotel and laundry is right across the road.
The rooms are clean and have everything you need.
There is a slight smell in the toilets… I will agree, but this is Cambodia, where, sometimes drainage and sewage is not 5 stars. It’s not a deal breaker, it’s just a simple adjustment you need to accept in the country. 
The beds are comfortable and ours was clean. 
The staff are welcoming, friendly, and always happy to serve you. 
The vibes here are calm, welcoming, safe, peaceful and friendly - with the ability to turn up the pace,  pool and darts are available and a huge selection of alcohol and fruit juices/smoothies from the bar. 
I seen a couple of reviews dissing the atmosphere - but it is absolutely perfect for us because we didn’t want 24/7 loud, crazy, drunk. 
I would highly recommend this to all groups, and most importantly, we would both definitely stay again!
My favourite thing here is all of the monkey pictures and the cooked breakfast!

We have been to this place more then once as we have been to Kampot 4 times . The breakfast is very good . The staff are very friendly and they also offer a good vegan variety for breakfast and lunch . Our friends thoroughly enjoyed so much so they kept going back to the same place . The place is very neat and nice greenery surrounding the place .

We loved our stay at Monkey Republic in Kampot. The common area where the restaurant and bar is, is really nicely designed and a great place to hang out. The food here was delicious too, we ended having all of our meals here during our 3 night stay. The range of craft beers they have on offer is probably the largest we've ever seen in a hostel, so if this is your thing it's worth coming here even if you're not staying the night. 
Our private room was lovely. The large and comfy bed came with the softest bedlinen ever, so our sleeps were amazing. Bathroom was large and clean, although the water doesn't drain away straight away so it stays wet for a little while. 
Staff were amazing and helped us book a tour and transportation to our next destination. We highly recommend booking the full day tour through them, we had an amazing day visiting Bokor National Park and a waterfall in the morning and a cave and La Plantation plus sunset at the salt fields in the afternoon. 
All in all we highly recommend this place if you're staying in Kampot.

It's a nice place for solo travelers. Soft bed clean room, good food, nice service, and friendly staff, they upgraded my room while I'm not  expectations all, I think they have private room and sha

Im normally not a hostel lover but this one is epic. You really feel at home. The staff is amazing. They all speak English and do everything to help. They have yoga lessons, healthy food and the room is just amazing. Will definitely recommend to stay here, or drop by for yoga and/or to eat.

Great stay at Monkey Republic; the staff were very friendly and helpful (even before we arrived), rooms were comfortable and clean and the downstairs restaurant served great food. There is also a fun atmosphere during live music events and a wide selection of drinks at the bar. Pleasant garden for relaxing , socializing or getting work done. Walking distance from the center of town and close-by to laundry and bike rentals. My only complaint is that the light on the A/C unit is very bright at night, so if that bothers you bring something to cover your eyes. I also felt very comfortable as a female traveller at this location. 

Wish we could have stayed longer!

Me and two friends stayed here for two nights whilst travelling in South East Asia. Most notably the staff were really friendly, helpful and had a great knowledge of the local area. The food in the restaurant is very good and value for money for sure. Kampot itself also has a lot going for it and feels very safe including at night. I would recommend this hostel to anyone of any age.

Amazingly designed common area and great private rooms

Really chilled vibe with lots of food / drinks for westerners on the menu if that’s your thing (albeit pricey). The road was quiet and you could refill your water for free. Place was clean. We stayed in a double room and the shower was powerful, beds were not very comfy and it’s a shame that they did not have aircon as the rooms were baking hot every day and we both had to sleep with 2 x fans which were loud and not powerful enough to accommodate the heat so our sleeps weren’t great.

Different prices for different accommodation. Helpful staff and lots of free advice for trips. Scooter hire over the road for $4 for 24 hours. Easy to walk around town from the location. Lots of food choices both local and western on site and reasonable prices. Plus happy hour on drinks every evening.

Good hostel

Staying at monkey republic after spending 2 weeks volunteering in the island.Was still a bit gloomy when I just arrived cause missing my friends in the island. But those 2 magic duo,Chris and Liam, slowly moved away my gloominess with their entertaining act every night hahaha.They’re so complete each other like Batman & Robin. Just sitting at the bar table every night already cheered me up.Not necessary to go out to another bar if they are around;).I felt it homy after a while.It’s like I found my second home after that paradise samloen.Met some others nice travelers too whom I hope our path will cross again someday.

Thank you Monkey Republic for making a memorable end of my 2nd Cambodia trip.Not sure if I’ll ever come back again since it’s been the 2nd time.But I’ll definitely will recommend it to all my fellow travelers who will go to Kampot!!!

This hostel is good, with a nice bar, pool table and some really excellent music playing in the evenings. The playlists were just a mix of my favourite music. The beds were comfy, it would be great if the top bunk curtains went all the way up to the ceiling, but we slept pretty well.
The only downside was that my husband's bunk bed had an extractor fan from the bathroom right by his head...so you can imagine the issues there. Apart from that, everything was good, and we'd book again.
