6 reviewsMy good lady and I decided to have s cheeky week in Cyprus as a mid year break and just needed some basic self catering accommodation in Limassol. We know the area quite well having been visiting Limassol as a couple for 17 years and my wife lived there when she was young. Part of our holiday is always spent visiting Cypriot friends so we chose the Tasiana essentially because of it's central location to the areas we wanted to visit and the cost which was very reasonable. The week we picked (arriving on the 17th June) was the last week before the Cypriot schools broke up for their summer break and before the Greek wedding season so the hotel for the week that we were there was very quiet with no more than a dozen people around the good sized pool area at any one time. Excellent for a couple of nearly sixty's like us. The down side to this was that the pool bar service was sporadic and we may have used the pool more if we could have been sure somebody would have there there to serve us. This did not spoil our holiday as our self catering studio apartment wasn't far from the pool anyway. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating and the pool and surrounding area always seemed clean with plenty of sun or shade depending on your preference. The room itself was spacious and clean with a comfy double bed and sofa. The kitchen area seemed well equipped (though Mrs S might disagree) and was certainly good enough that we breakfasted there each morning. There was a choice of local supermarkets withing easy walking distance selling basic items required for self catering although it did take Mrs S a few days to find some decent bacon. Also within a short walk were a selection of restaurants and bars notably the Shakespeare Pub and the Monastiraki Greek restaurant where we ate most nights. First timers to Limassol might be advised to get off the main drag and get some authentic Cyprus food from the smaller tavernas. Look to see where the locals are eating would be my advice. I wouldn't say that Cyrus is the cheapest place to eat (and drink) out with prices in my opinion comparable to the UK but if you shop about and look for happy hour specials you don't need to break the bank. We hired a car for three of the five days we were there to make it easier to go visiting and included a trip to Lady's Mile beach. car hire costs are OK but again shop around and in this modern age of the internet it is probably worth checking out and booking your car hire before you travel. A car is well worth it in Cyprus with a much improved road system and the advantage for UK travellers of driving on the left hand side of the road. We booked our holiday through Teletext Holidays and found everything reasonably priced and I would thoroughly recommend Holiday Taxis as a method of transfer from airport to hotel and back again for those booking each part of their holiday separately. We love Cyprus and Limassol in particular, the Tasiana proved to be an ideal base and we have thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Depending on the time of yea, we would definitely return to this hotel but if you are the sort of holiday maker who expects the hotel to keep you entertained for the length of your stay then maybe this hotel is not for you. If you are looking for a base to explore Limassol and Cyprus, then I would recommend this hotel.
