the cabanas are straight on the beach. On white sands. is a dream to sleep and wake up there. David helps for all and is an amazing manager.

i came by private boat and David and all staff helped me from there on
of course is a hostel. so the bathroom and WC are shared. But they keep it very clean. You only need to use a bucket in WC and there is no electricity or flush. Is very basic but is special for people who needs that. for me was perfect. I needed being away like that.
from 10 to 16 gets so touristy. Too many people coming in and out. massage ladies constantly grabbing you. But ones boats goes back to Cartagena, you have the white sandy beach for yourself!

Loved the Wizard so much. Colorful, affordable, great beach front. We actually found it because we first took a bed next door (with yellow sun beds) and the prices were OUTRAGEOUS. We migrated to the wizard and could get 4 drinks for the same price and one next door. The vibe was so happy and relaxed, the bartender was cool and the food was really good ! FORGET THE OTHER PLACES IN BARÚ this is the spot! Thank you for saving the day in BARÚ

Let me be clear We did not stay at this hostel ! We came for drinks and a chill vibe on Baru away from the crowds and tourist. It’s a little bit of a walk on the beach but it’s so beautiful there you don’t even mind the commute. 

The bar itself is so pretty and colorful. The bartenders are super nice and attentive. They do not under pour so be ready!  

Would definitely return!

Great place to stay for the night. Owners very helpful and friendly,  warned us about the massage ladies and  sellers.  cansp eak a little English. Food great. Cocktails and juices great too. They did not charge extra for use of hammocks, as some hostel do. Toilets clean. Fans in room and mosquito nets.

One of the nicer hostels on Playa Blanca, we found The Wizard to be a sanctuary from the craziness of some of the other places  on the beach. We spent two nights here and enjoyed our stay. The staff were very kind - particularly when I became unwell. I would stay here again.

My room was big enough, had a mosquito net on top of the bed (which I was really thankful for, mosquitoes are incredibly annoying in Playa Blanca), a big mirror and a fan (no AC, but I doubt there is any hostel in Playa Blanca with AC). There was only electricity from the evening until the early morning (can't remember the exact hours).

The bathrooms were located outside the rooms, and you had to pour a bucket of sea water on the toilets to flush. For the showers, you had to let them know you wanted to shower about 20 minutes before so they could set it up. It was basically a huge water dispenser hanging above your head, which sounds way worse than it was. In Playa Blanca, I believe this is how most bathrooms work, as it is still very rural in some ways.

In my opinion, this hostel's beachfront area was the most beautiful one in Playa Blanca, and the location was far away enough from the most crowded side of the beach, so it was quite peaceful. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We walked down the beach to find a hostel / Cabaña to stay in for a night. This was one of the best options in our opinion. 

Basic and expensive as with all on Playa Blanca but clean and good view. The staff were immensely kind and helpful. 

There is a small bar and they offer food which was good. It's not really advertised that they offer food but when I saw others eating I asked and received some delicious Colombian food.    

No Wifi as some photos show. Electricity only at specific times but not really required except to charge things. 

If you want / need luxury this hostel and the whole of Playa Blanca is not really for you.

However the beach and see is incredible and worth a night or two in basic accommodation.

Good choice on Playa Blanca 

Amazing little one room huts right on the beach. The view is gorgeous.  The accommodations seemed pretty standard for Playa Blanca.  The staff is really nice and we felt safe.  The food is ok and the drinks are hit or miss, but can't beat waking up right on the beach.

Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our stay at Wizard Hostel. The hostel is very basic, which was fine for us but the facilities are also old and not well maintained. The toilets have no flushes (use buckets) and the showers have only water from little water canister, which are filled at around 6.30pm (I guess that's typical for Playa Blanca, but we just want to mention it). 
However the worst was, that there were bed bugs - A LOT OF THEM! The first night we were not sure that our bites came from bed bugs, but after the second night we moved to another room, which eventually was even worse. Bed bugs were everywhere: on the ground, matraze, pillow, mosquito net!!! So me and my friend we decided to sleep outside on the beach, which was fine but not what we paid for of cause. In the morning, I approached the owner/worker and she refused that there are any bed bugs. I also asked her to pay us back the last night but she wouldn't agree and even worse she did not even apologise! Pity, that we will remember playa Blanca with that experience.

We came across this place and were attracted by the beautiful bar, hammocks and chill atmosphere. The price was good compared to others, HOWEVER, we rented a room for 4 people and were deeply dissapointed. 
Our room didn't have enough pillows or blankets for everyone. We were happy to see they had mosquito nets but were horrified to see that on top of them lay an army of dead insects and mice droppings!!!! What is worse, at night it rained and one of the beds got soaked! When we told the staff, they shrugged their shoulders and said that it was normal with a palm roof. We were also woken up by a horrible stench.
Breakfast was also dissapointing, more like a small bite that was cold, the toast was soggy and were only offered coffee of cafe au lait. Did not dare drink my coffee as the milk had shifted.
They offer wifi, but after check in warned us that there is a limit on the number of users and it only worked sporadically.
The staff did not make us feel welcome, as they spent most of their time socializing or relaxing on the swings. 
All in all a very disappointing experience!
