The objective of this review is to shout out the first-rate staff at this cozy, independently-owned hotel for their dedication to service and assistance. For personal circumstances outside the hotel’s control, I opted to stay elsewhere for the night rather than here, but the level of understanding and kindness shown to me during the hour I was present was 100% worthy of five stars. I drive an electric wheelchair, and like many buildings in Varna, mobility accessibility is an afterthought. The man at check-in (which was extremely late at night, I should mention) went above and beyond to determine if there was a safe location (e.g. a gated courtyard, alleyway, or parking lot) to stow my chair for the night, rather than just leaving it exposed on the sidewalk. Ultimately there were no other options, which was fine because I was planning to just park it on the sidewalk for the short time I’d be staying, but the employee’s commitment to helping me find a place to store it touched me. Thank you! I want to conclude by highlighting one last above-and-beyond moment I can’t omit—the way the room doors are designed requires a physical key that one need to turn to lock and unlock, and with my physical disability, the movement of twisting my hands to use a key is very challenging. So unless I would’ve slept with my door unlocked (which felt disconcerting to me), I required the front desk to go up and help me to lock it……which wouldn’t really work, as I would’ve been locked in without a key if the night auditor locked the door for me! So while I’m forgetting a few details, the man working the night shift found a way to unhook the key from its plastic card/handle (displaying the room number) and slide the bare key under the slit of the door when he finished locking it. I was so thankful for this clever thinking and overwhelming assistance. I wish I could learn how to use a key (sigh), but oh well! (I should note also…I was basically half asleep at this point, since it was 1am and I was still a bit jetlagged from Dubai. So I wasn’t at all thinking clearly. How could I have expected myself to UNlock my door?! So soon after, when I decided to stay elsewhere due to these concerns, I had to contact the front desk yet again to get help unlocking the door, by sliding my key back underneath the door to be reached from the hallway. I felt so bad. I had wasted this man’s time, essentially used him for so much help that I wished I could’ve been able to do on my own, and then was going to tell him I had to leave. This review is to give the utmost praise and thanks to him for tolerating me and providing the level of customer service he did. THANK YOU!!!) Please stay here, my friends! As long as you can turn a key, you’ll be fine! The room was clean, quaint, and comfy, and the location can’t be beat. Sorry for being unable to stay, but know that I’ll give this place the recognition it deserves.
