What a beautiful place!  My family and I have just returned from a wonderful week at Pian Dei Mucini and we loved every second of it. The location is stunning- I miss the pretty views from the apartment balcony so much! All the staff are so friendly and welcoming- the reception team, the restaurant staff and the entertainment team, who do a fabulous job with the children and organising the after dinner show. The pool area is an ideal size and there are plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas for the guests without it feeling too busy. We ate at the a la carte restaurant nearly every night as there was just so much choice on the menu - authentic Tuscan antipasti, pizzas, pastas, meat dishes, steaks….. not to mention the deserts and the local wines! I can definitely recommend this resort and hope to return in the future. X

It lies on the edge of the Tuscan forest.  With a view of a picturesque valley, Massa Marittima can be seen on the opposite hilltop. We stayed at the Palazzo Vittoria, it was perfect.  We had dinner three times at Pian dei Mucini's Pizzeria. The appetizers and roast meats (grilled on the terrace by a professional) were impeccably good, but the desserts were also excellent.  On all three evenings, a lady singer with a very good voice provided the live music. The service was friendly and attentive.  We had a really great experience.

We spent a wonderful week from June 29th to early July. Despite some rainy days, which we used to explore the beauties of Tuscany (including Pisa and the Palio), the stay at the resort was truly enjoyable. The food was good, the apartment was clean, and we chose one of the villas by the pool. Speaking of which, the pools were beautiful, both the larger one and the smaller one, surrounded by characteristic Tuscan cypress trees. There were pleasant activities during the day for both adults and children, and beautiful shows in the evening. We could suggest a few more umbrellas, as on sunny days they were all taken, but overall, excellent value for money.

Nice swimming pool, but had to pay extra for 2 lounge chairs, as only 2 are foreseen per accommodation. Breakfast was ok, but could do with a better restocking, and clearing of tables. Car needed as the resort is not close to a town centre. Nive views of the Tuscan country side. Very bad 4G reception and no WiFi in the appartement, only WiFi available at reception. Appartement was nice, clean and big enough for 4, but lacks a dishwasher in the kitchen.

The setting of this resort amid the authentic Tuscany countryside is simply breathtaking. Magnificent location – close to the historic little town of Massa Marittima and the beautiful beach of Torra Mozza – this exceptionally maintained property offers accommodations that are simple, yet comfortable and clean, plus leisure facilities that are second to none. And you are truly made welcome by staff throughout the resort – especially at the reception : Maria, Leticia, Jasmine and Francesca… not to mention the friendly lifeguards, the hard-working maids and groundskeepers, including the proud manager with her lovely dog walking the domain morning till evening, making sure everything is perfect. Now, as for the quality coming out of the kitchen(s) and the efficiency of the service personnel in the restaurant(s) and the bar... hmm ???!!!

Nice hotel with a big pool and breakfast included. Perfect for the bigger families. The buildings are not the newest. Very good breakfast with options for those who needs gluten-free food.

The best view, the best food, great service but need to improve the services in range. Food is really good. I missed: sauna, a bar outside. Looks like everything happens into the pizza-restaurant. The houses or accomodations are simple. It's beautiful but in there there is not much to do.

EXCEPTIONAL… EXCEPT FOR THE FOOD

Pool vacations in Toscana

It's very very beautiful but facilities could be better

Lovely setting but such a shame that more is not made of the facilities in this resort.

Breakfast was adequate for 5 Euros. Dinner was disappointing . Arrive at 7.30pm for a full selection or hot food after that standards slipped badly. Tables were not cleared in between courses - apartment number taken and an initial drinks order then not asked again. 
No welcome pack or even water provided on arrival. Difficult to find apartments in the dark - need numbers more prominent when approaching by car.
No atmosphere - no encouragement to sit and spend the evening in a bar area etc.

Nice pool area but not allowed to swim between 12 and 4 as there were no lifeguards on duty - short staffed. Loud music put on when lifeguards were on duty was a abysmal.
Beware weekends lots of weddings taking place in the hotel.
Some apartments refurbished - no hangers in wardrobes and beware you have to supply your own toilet roll after to meagre single roll supplied. Something we have never had to do in all our years travelling - very mean....
Plenty of hot water available in apartments - basic kitchen equipment - but no bottle opener. Everything needs to be checked as things have obviously disappeared during the season.Lots of lights not working had to keep reporting things to reception.
Local town Massa Maritima about 10 minutes away plenty of restaurants. Free to park in town after 8pm.
Supermarkets best to go to Follonica - Lidl and The Penny store - 20 minutes drive.
Visited Volterra, San Gimignano.
Limited internet in reception and restaurant area only.
Overall a  lovely spot but poorly managed - could do so much more!!!!

Camping
The views are magnificent, the pool is enormous and the staff are kind and willing to help.
But basically it is a glorified camping with tuscan style brick huts and music blaring almost all the time.
And, as is not uncommon at camping sites, things go wrong.
Unavailable rooms, showers that don’t work, the fridge appeared to be a heater, breakfast with no knives and a very poorly stocked bar.
It must be said that the staff tried their best to remedy matters but the damage was done.
Probably very nice with (small) children.
Unfortunately we had to cut our holiday short.
