Some hotels I unexpectedly fall in love with: this is one of those. We had booked one of the better rooms (‘suites’) which were nice and spacious. Good size bathroom and all the usual room safe, minibar and separate shower and jacuzzi; effective wifi. Superb breakfast buffet (we too noticed nobody was paying the extra for freshly pressed orange, apple, … juice - maybe that one juice pressing machine was just too valuable to risk damaging by actual use ?) and a great fitness/spa complex with excellent gym, pool, sauna and hammam included (apart from your compulsory bathing cap if you want to swim) plus extra spa options. Location on a main shopping drag; Van castle pleasantly walkable but most will prefer four wheels. Very helpful front desk staff who arranged transfer to Kars for us with detour via Ishak Pasha Palace and its views of Mount Ararat - not cheap mind you. One of those hotels I would unreservedly recommend (unless budget rules it out).
