Hostal Lami

We went to visit our nephew and he recommended this hotel because it's a 3 minute walk to his house. When I heard the word hostel, I thought it would be bad. It's not a hostel (like North Americans think). It's a hotel! The front desk staff were very helpful and nice. We didn't eat breakfast which is offered for 6 euros because I don't eat much for breakfast. My husband went to the local bakery (there are several) and got a pastry and two coffees which we enjoyed in our room. The rooms are small but we didn't plan to spend too much time in the room. The room was very clean and the beds were amazing. I heard from other reviews that the rooms facing the road were noisy but we didn't find that at all. A five minute walk gets you to the tram. Super easy to buy the tickets before you get on. 2.65 euros for one ticket or you can buy a pass depending on how long you're staying. You can get off and transfer to the metro (you need to buy a different ticket). Everything about the transit system was super easy to maneuver. We took a taxi from the airport and paid 27 euros. However, on the way back we took the tram and the metro because it was super easy. The metro goes directly Into the airport. The area of the hotel is super nice. There are lots of shops, restaurants, bars and pathways to walk on. We found a little local bar on the same street as the hotel, close to the tram station. The people were friendly and a glass of wine was 2 euros! There are a few restaurants in this area that are amazing! First is the Chinese restaurant right next door to the hotel. The food was great. We were only in Barcelona for 4 days and ate here twice. A Vista is a restaurant that I can highly highly recommend. The food was out of this world. We had such a nice evening at this restaurant. I wrote about that separately on Trip advisor. There is also a mall about a 10 minute walk from the hotel, lots of small grocery stores, bakeries and a large grocery store near the mall. We did go into the city centre but were happy to get back to this amazing area. It just felt like home.
