I spent six months here while working in Dhaka. Better than the best five star hotel in town Loved every day of my stay there. The staff is great. Reliable wifi (rare for a guesthouse in Dhaka), excellent room service, and a fantastic rooftop restaurant and kitchen.

Great for long term travellers

Admittedly, a no frills place.  If anything, that is Villa Idea's niche - all the furniture is antique (except the TV and room fridge). I don't think I have ever been at a hotel where I am so well attended... the staff are super friendly.  The food here is good, but be warned, need to order at least 1-1.5 hours in advance (except for breakfast, which is included). There are lots of neighborhood restaurants, and the area is safe. (And a note about the beds - I have actually slept better here than any hotel in a long time.)

Charming and warm

Firstly, due to the extremely secure location of the hotel within Dhaka, it is recommended for anyone who has plans to stay for long periods. The hotel has a good number of young service staff, but the main issue is very few can speak English, so you might face some inconvenience there. But let that not stop you from staying here since they make it up for with a prompt and appreciable quality of service. The restaurant serves really tasty food with a wide variety of multinational cuisine to choose from. The restaurant believes in preparing food from freshly bought items each time you order food, so you need to place an order well in advance(atleast 2 hours before) for lunch and dinner both, so if you are thinking of gatecrashing the restaurant, it is recommended to pickup food on the way back to the hotel. The rooms are very spacious and wood furnished with carpet flooring. It has a 19th century colonial ambience to it. The hotel has free wifi but the connectivity varies from room to room. Finally, I would recommend this hotel if you want value for money and good service.

One of the safest hotels to stay in Bangladesh

Rooms are very large, clean enough, airconditioned and nicely furnished, the restaurant needs to be informed 3 hours in advanced if you plan to have dinner there and offers a good, mainly continental, breakfast. Gulshan is the most western neighbourhood of course. The deputy manager speaks english flawless, which isnt always the case.

Enormous rooms, comfortable

The ideas manzil is a nicely decorated place. And the food, for the one night I stayed there, was good. The staff tries to be quite helpful but is just clueless most of the times. here is the worst part: I had emailed the manager in advance about my back pain, and he assured me that he would have a firm mattress in the room. I arrived, the mattress  old, shoddy mattress with no support, it just sank. I complained and the staff kept bringing different mattresses of the same kind. I ended up (not) sleeping on the sofa, and when I told the manager, he promised to get a proper mattress. I even searched the internet and found him a vendor. As I was leaving for work, he assured me that the mattress would be taken care of, when I came back. But alas, the story he gave me was the warehouse did not have it in store. The company has more than four of those in Dhaka.  But according to the "Ideas" manzil, they were all closed on a "Sunday" which is not a public holiday. Anyway, it was just plain horrible.
