Very poor breakfast,had to take own tomatoes etc with,Only one girl who was in the house,did not speak any language exept macedonian,Two  days no warm water  at all in shower.Owner did not react our complaining. The fridge didn't work.

Not good accomondation

For so many years since I travel, and use the online bookings, nobody has ever abused my trust and charged my account abusively and not just once. The booking conditions were that the payment to be made during the accommodation, in local currency. The first debit was made two months before we arrived. Two days before arrival, the account is debited again. I reported to the owner the problem by sending an email, called him and nothing, no return of the amount charged abusively. No answer for the discomfort created, for the interest paid. The amount debited by owner was from a credit card to which the bank charges the interest. 
I honestly do not understand the very high rating on Booking, nothing justifies this, everything is broken starting with the stairs, in the room from each corner comes out a pipe, the bathroom did not had a switch, the breakfast was very poor, without butter but with margarine etc. 
The site after which the reservation was made contacted me and returned the money which was abusively debited from my credit card from the owner.

Very disappointed

We stayed for 11 days from the middle of July 18. There was myself, my wife and kids, and my parents. This is our second trip to Ohrid as it is so beautiful (but our first to Villa Boban)

The accommodation is like a big B&B, with a great breakfast served up each day. Tina goes all out to do anything to help - cook whatever you want, order taxis, book tables at restaurants, do some washing etc. 

The pool is fairly small (as the pictures on booking.com and trip advisor show), but what is less clear is that it is in shade for a large part of the day, so it isn't particularly warm (I would say its cold actually). This is great when it's really hot, but even then kids get cold within 10-15 minutes which limits its value. Adding heating to this would be great, but perhaps too expensive.

The balcony is a really nice addition to the two front rooms and its very relaxing sitting looking out over the town. The suite is really nice, but there is a staircase with no banister that you may feel pretty nervous about your children going up and down.

Its a 10 minute walk to the centre (15 mins with kids), which is ideal.

The kitchen facilities are limited - I wouldn't expect anyone to use them to do any cooking, but preparing lunch from bits bought from the supermarket is doable.

One of the bedroom had a few items that needed fixing. The fridge didn't work (no issue for us as we had three rooms and so had two other working fridges), and a couple of other bits needed touching up (the toilet cylinder lid was broken, the shower was missing one of the two doors, the tap was very loose, and one of the electric sockets was free from the wall exposing some wires, and only one of the 30 ish fancy lights in the ceiling worked). These were all fairly small things compared to the benefits of the location, and how helpful Tina was.

The bins were emptied once a week and the room cleaned at that stage too. You may expect this to be daily, but this was fine for us.

Tina could come across a little confrontational to some people I would think, but I think this is part of the culture, and we found her to be very very helpful. I did find it odd she asked to cancel our booking (through booking.com) whilst we were with her however.

We enjoyed out time and left a good tip before we left on our last day, which she really deserved for all her work.

Villa Boban family holiday

When we arrived we were told our booking had been cancelled due to a bad card- I suspect the owners cancelled this themselves as there had been no other issues with the card prior to, or following this. This is consistent with some of the other reviews people have left on TripAdvisor. The host said the room we booked (and we only booked this room 6 hours previous) was now full and our only option was to stay in their 40 euro room. There was no warmth to the host which was a shame after a long drive. Something about the whole thing just didn't seem right and so we left. Disappointing as we were really looking forward to staying here.

Disappointing

Stayed 3 nights at Villa Boban- and really enjoyed it! Room was clean, and well furnished. WiFi was good. Breakfast was very nice.
Villa Boban is a short walk from the old town- 10min or so- and near to a 24hr supermarket.
The hosts were so welcoming & helpful, even organised a driver to take us over the border to Albania for lunch on the last day!
Would recommend asking for them to organise a driver to pick you up from Ohrid airport- is about 10euro and worth it.

Lovely room and hosts

We got a warm welcome by the landlady who gave us all information needed (maps, booklet) on where to go and what to see in the old and new city of Ohrid. And the information proved to be accurate and best possible. The location is the very best and close to the old town as well as the restaurants and shopping in new town. Really helpful and friendly staff, they did everything to please us, they gave laundry for free. The room was clean but very small and there was no balcony provided as it should have been.

A pleasant stay in Ohrid close to old town

We were picked up from the airport and welcomed with champagne and sweets. Great Duplex suite with two floors and extra large King size bed. Spotless clean with beautiful bedding. Breakfast was absolutely must have. We took few recommended tours around Macedonia and we absolutely don't regret. Swimming pool large enough to refresh and beautiful garden to relax on always free of charge sunbeds. We definitely highly recommend to all. Looking to see you guys soon.
