Excellently located hotel a short walk from Funchal centre. Parking a plus (€5 per day). The room was large with 7ft bed, sofa, armchair, desk, fridge etc. Beautiful sea views. Many have complained about the shower being in a bath. I prefer this as after a day's hiking, a bath was lovely. At least you have a choice with this arrangement. The bed was comfy with lovely bedding and it was all very clean. We stayed half board and loved the food. The staff were all friendly. The heated indoor pool was great for children, the outdoor pools were colder than the sea. Only 2 criticisms of this hotel. 1) Water not supplied free and charged at €4.50 in the restaurant! I noticed that others barely bought drinks. I think that if water was supplied free, that more wine etc would be bought and profits would go up. 2) The second minor criticism is that you have to wait to be escorted your table in the buffet restaurant. A waste of staff time. People are capable of finding their own table. The freed up staff could then take drinks orders as drinks take a long time (again, a missed opportunity by the hotel).
