The Western Strands Hotel

Went for dinner last night. Definitely the best meal we have had in Belmullet. Portions huge, very tasty and fantastic service. Live music in the bar which was an added bonus. Very reasonable price too and we will def be back as this restaurant is of a high standard  in pur view.

Excellent food. Really much better than expected.. Wde choice and we ate tgere as a big group three times and nobidy was dissapointed. Really friendly staff. Reasonable room rate.  Right in the center of town yer no probkem parking. Great service. 

Had an enjoyable stay at the western strands   The staff were so helpful and friendly.  The room was spotless clean well done to housekeeping staff   we had  dinner in the restaurant was fab   Hotel is situated in the town.  We would definitely stay  here in the future.  

We enjoyed our visit last night to the Western Strands.  The ambiance was cosy on a very cold night. The food was excellent and served by attentive staff.  The hotel in the centre of Belmullet was very busy with lots of Christmas parties but that did not impact on the efficient service.

Food was good, good portions. I got the stuffed chicken and ham dish- very tasty. My husband got the potato and veg curry- tasty and filling. Nice staff, reasonable prices. Restaurant had a funeral party sitting in the larger area, we sat near the bar- comfortable seats. Would recommend

Several people in the town recommended this place.  We were not disappointed.  The food was beautifully prepared.  The portions were enormous and the prices were very reasonable.  The staff could not have been more helpful. I heartily recommend this establishment.  David is doing a marvellous job.

I stayed in the Western Strands for the first time & eventhough I had been to the place a few times for drinks & for a meal, I had never stayed in their accommodation. I was pleasantly surprised at the room & how modern & well appointed the entire place was. I just had a single ensuite room which was recently renovated & everything was pristine & the bed was so comfortable. This was particularly appreciated since I had just completed a five hour drive. I was greeted by a pleasant young receptionist who gave me a key to room 6. The room was modern, comfortable & well appointed. There was a little bit of noise from the downstairs bar but that finished as soon as I was ready to retire to my room. I managed to get parking nearby & the bar does food untill 9.00. I was very impressed with everything & I was greeted briefly by the very helpful proprietor, Dave, who made sure everything was satisfactory. I will look forward to staying again at the Western Strands.

If you are staying the night in Belmullet. I would recommend you stay here. Super friendly and welcoming staff. Clean simple rooms. And - a great breakfast.

This is my first review ever written, but wanted to help this business because we enjoyed our stay so much.

We spent 4 nights at the Western Strands hotel recently. David and his team treated us so well from the time we arrived. Such a homely atmosphere in the hotel. We ate breakfast and dinner there each day and night. The food was excellent. We also enjoyed an afternoon of kayaking with the Wavesweeper guys which is also part of the hotel ownership. Eamonn was such a help with our 9 year old.
Highly recommend the Western Strands for any visit to Belmullet.

While visiting Belmullet last week our group of 7 booked a meal in the outside area of the Western Strand.  The service was second to none with friendly and helpful staff, however the amazing food was the high point, we all had fabulous meals and would highly recommend a visit.... really well priced and delicious.... also give the pornstar cocktail a try..... delicious

A very large pub, but with many sitting options for dinner. The place was fairly busy when we arrived without a reservation, but we were accommodated easily at a table near the musicians-in-residence who played well-known pop tunes all evening.
The fare itself was of a vey good standard, be it seafood (chowder, fish-n-chips) or land produce (chicken) and well-prepared. Service was just as could be expected in a busy environment, polite, fast but not rushed.
Although the musicians were good, they were a little loud as we were sitting a few metres only and it was hard to sustain a conversation. But apart from this the restaurant leaved to the words we had heard on it and provided a filling and tasty dinner, just what we needed.

Visited Belmullet overnight with the family, booked Western Strand at short notice and got a room for three. It was great value at €100 for three and if i was to be picky they did not do breakfast and the mattress in the doble bed could do with changing. Staff were helpful and will be back to Belmullet

Short visit to Belmullet

We popped in for lunch after a day on the beach (it was a mega hot day!) 
I had the chicken curry and it was huge (and delicious). Friendly staff, as always in this part of the world, clean, friendly vibe, would 100% recommend. 

My only slight issue (and it's not really their fault) was that it was very hot. It was a lovely sunny day and the room we ate it was like a sauna. Maybe a fan or leaving some doors open on a hot day might help. 

Overall, a great place in a beautiful part of the world.

Went on a busy saturday afternoon, lovely atmosphere and service.
Chowder - one of the best iv had with lovely homemade bread. Other two friends had sandwiches and fries - very tasty and very big portions.
average  10euro a head with tea extra.

Pleasant surprise

Just after having a night away in Belmullet.  Stayed in this guesthouse, David was so welcoming, the premises is basic guesthouse on a budget.  My dietary needs were accommodated for & David was on hand to ensure we were satisfied with our meal.  The waiting staff were so polite.  There are renovations being done & a beautiful area for dining.  Breakfast is served until noon & without doubt the selection & standard is the best we have had.  I would highly recommend if you don't stay just even call for food, you will not be disappointed.

Booked a table for 8pm last night, we got there a little early and we were seated straight away (after our CoVid certs were checked). Brilliant friendly efficient staff, that took our food & drinks order promptly. My husband raved about the House special stir fry, the portion was huge and it was delicious. My main course was one of the specials the Roast Chicken with bacon, served with lovely mashed potatoes and veg. The manager and staff were all so welcoming. Definitely will call again when in the area. Keep up the great work.

Excellent Food & Service

We all ate a lovely tasty lunch today we sat there for two hours. Delicious food with great choices for everyone. I had the special and it was lovely. We had dessert and ice cream and all left happy and fed. Friendly and efficient service. Would highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back next time we are out this way.
