The Monkey House Belize

This place exceeded my expectations in every way. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but from the pictures and description I was a little worried that I was expecting too much. But I was wrong! The pictures don't do the scenery justice! And everything was exactly as promised in the description. Actually, even better... As we went during the week, we were the only ones there. I can't guarantee this, but for us it was like our own private island vacation (although it is on the mainland, so you even have the option of over land or over the water transportation). Even so, I think the max number at any time is...13? So, a family or friends booking would be awesome too. Our oceanfront room had all the conveniences; hot water, electricity, a/c and awesome Wi-Fi. And it is surrounded by miles and miles of jungle. And three meals a day served to you on the beach with the best cook! Miriam is a sweetheart. Always upbeat and very flexible to your diet restrictions. Yes, your own private chef (optional, and an extra very-reasonable cost) We took the kayak out and did some snorkeling. Where else on the mainland can you do that? It was only a 10-minute trek over to Bird Island. Even us old folks could manage that. We also took the Monkey River Tour with Totally Wild Monkey River Tours. We saw toucans, crocodiles, turtles, howler monkeys and so many different other birds! And we had lunch at Alice's Restaurant and shopped the local crafts in Monkey River Town, which is just a short boat ride across Monkey River from the resort. We were there only two nights. Not long enough. We didn't get to snorkel nearly enough, take the paddle boards out, watch the manatees go by, play horseshoes... I guess we'll have to go back soon! Thank you, Gary and Tina!
