We have stayed on the east end of Cayman before but always in a house. We tried Morritts and loved it. Great little resort with 3 pools, hot tubs and very nice beach.  Very family friendly.  Weather was great.  Resort Staff were very nice.  Overall I would highly recommend it.  

Great Spot

Grand  (Room 6403)  - Ocean view with 🏄‍♀️  and sunrise made the  vacation.   Founder is super friendly and it was great meeting him.  2 bedroom an 2 bath and large balcony. Resort- doesn't provide coffee and filters, shampoo, conditioner and lotion.  I feel you need a car.  45 minutes away from the airport. Quiet side of the island.  Howeve,  you can walk to grocery, liquor, restaurants.   Grocery had cheaper prices then larger Hurley in town.  2 swim up bars and bar/Restaurant on the pier. Hammocks  and chairs always had plenty.   The trampoline was super fun.  Snorkeling was excellent under the pier. Be careful when the fishing boat comes in so does the nurse shark.  🐈 we such a plus!!!  The guy that takes cares of them is super nice and helpful.

The room we had was outdated and carpet needs to be replaced. The location was beautiful and very quiet. Plenty of room at the pools and beach. The food was good, and the staff was friendly. I will definitely go back to Grand Cayman but maybe try another resort.

Family Vacation

The place is not family-friendly at all, with poor customer service. Rooms are outdated, and the beds and pullout couch are not comfortable. Everything is of low quality, and the pools are very outdated. You can quickly tell that they have never undergone major structural upgrades. While some rooms have been cosmetically updated, the overall quality is lacking.

Morritt's Resort appears to clearly cater to elderly clients and does not seem to welcome kids. While I have immense respect for elderly people, this hotel should not accept money from families with young children; it would be more appropriate as an adults-only resort.

Attempting to have the usual family fun is restricted. Kids cannot jump in the pool, play ball, or even laugh at the pool. Essentially, you cannot have the typical Caribbean family experience, which was quite shocking as I have never encountered this before.

On the other hand, if you enjoy playing bingo with elderly people, this is the spot! Every day at noon, there is a bingo game.

So, covering the pool and room, there's no value for the money. Let's move on to the beach. Oops. There are rocks, requiring water shoes to avoid injury. You need to walk along the beach to find small pockets where you can swim safely.

This side of the island is windy in December, and large waves with sharp reefs make it unsafe for even big boys like me to swim. We had to drive to another beach called Rum Point and then to the Seven Mile Beach, which is a one-hour drive from this place.

After three nights at Morritt's Resort, we became so disheartened that we bought two nights at a different place, located one hour away but right next to the Seven Mile Beach. There, we finally enjoyed the ocean, beach, and had a good family time. It felt like a different world on Seven Mile Beach – no wind (a different side of the island), nice sand, no rocks, and you could laugh and play freely – a proper beach.

1. Unless you are staying next to the Seven Mile Beach, you are wasting your money on Cayman Island. Spending a bit more will ensure you truly enjoy your stay.
2. If you are not of retirement age and a fan of bingo, consider trying a different resort close to the Seven Mile Beach.

We stayed in room 5202 on the second floor, with our balcony overlooking the adult pool.

Not family-friendly at all, poor beach and waste of money

We have visited Morritt’s Tortuga in the past; what you get is predictable. Some sun, a few pools, mini putt, and soft sand. Next year they’ll stop offering RCI stays, but over the holidays Morritt’s made for a decent vacation. The cabana or tiki umbrellas, wharf/gazebo bar and grill overtop the clear water, and dive shop made Morritt’s a relatively affordable option. We ate on site once and bought groceries at a small Foster’s across the street. Everything closes Sundays but the volleyball net and lounge chairs kept beach bums happy. Cocktails cost over $11 USD. Unlike Wyndham next door, there also was a spot for divers or snorkelers as well as hammocks. It’s too remote but less so than Rum Point (halfway to Kaibo there or Starfish Point). Waters can get choppy, but at least it was clear unlike the sea grass that has drifted to and choked the Seven Mile Beach resorts. We stayed in the furthest building #7 that was spacious and renovated. Renting a car costed $95 USD/day including tax. It’s worth costing out the value of whether renting or else hailing a cab is better: Taxi 345 916-7634/949-4748. Just ask for a pit stop or else ATM run at RBC on the way. Cash is king when most everything closes over holidays and weekends!

Remote but nice

The hotel was very dated. I've stayed in the last year at best western in the U.S. that were nicer than this. No alarm clock, poor access to plugs (on either side of bed, one plug free, behind a table). No USB plugs for convenience. "Key" for the room is on a bracelet like for a theme park. They do not tell you when they place it on you that it is removable. No shampoo, conditioner or lotion amenities. No coffeepot, but not a Keurig maker. It needed ground coffee and filters. Filters seem left over from a prior tenant, but no coffee, sweetener, creamer, etc. The coffeemaker holds 12 cups like a regular machine, but no pot, nor room for a pot under it like normal. No elevator. We only had to lug 45lb luggage up a single flight of stairs in 100 degree in the shade weather. No one ever asked if we were able to do that, just assigned it, and I knew from experience to ask about the elevator. No potholders to use the glass bakeware, or the broiler pan and cookie sheet that were "hidden" in the actual oven, rather than in the long thin cabinet alongside it. Hardly any space in the bathroom to put any toiletries. Trouble with slow draining shower (standing in an inch of dirty water for first shower). Luckily resolved within a couple hours after our call. Food at their $30CI (CI=$1.25US) welcome dinner was poor, cafeteria quality buffet food. Dinner held outside, no fans, a single waiter. Water never refilled. Poor "drink ticket" idea, and you have to get a talk about their resort

I liked the area it was in, i believe it is over priced. Everything is very expensive at the resort.

Curtains were thin and the light shined in and the room was not close to being dark at night. Only one chair that was not that comfortable. The lights were dim even in the kitchen, only one frying pan, no light in the stove, vanity in bathroom was too small, and the room was showing signs of neglect. The adult pool had big chunks of the surface missing. The wait service in the dining room and the grill were very poor, they never asked if your meal was okay or offered any more water the entire time. Steaks were fatty with gristle and very chewy. On Monday at about 7:30pm we were in our room in a state of undressing putting on our swimsuits when a man barged into our room, when I yelled he shut the door. I got my suit on and went to the door, he was walking away fast and when he saw me he came back and said he was a manager and our room was marked as empty. The next morning I went to the front desk and found out that our room was marked as occupied since Wednesday the week before when we arrived and would be until Saturday. The manager was not in and the woman at the desk said she would talk to him about the incident and we would hear back from him. Later he called and stated it was someone from housekeeping. No reason why he came into our room that late, our room had been made up hours before the incident. He said he was sorry over the phone and offered nothing to try and make it right.

Second time to Morritt’s, this time with our 4yo. He LOVED the pool, the resort is super low-key, and it’s East End so it’s quiet compared to 7 mile beach. There’s always chairs and beach frontage available. The entire east end feels like a private beach. It’s close to some great restaurants, but I’d recommend a rental car if you want to explore from this side of the island.

Staff are very courteous and friendly. The place is quiet and amazing for relaxation.
