The Holyhead Hostel

Having had a lovey morning visiting South Stack Lighthouse , we decided to head to Anglesey’s most well known town, Holy head. This should be renamed as HellHole! Never in my years travelling around the county have I felt that un-easy walking round a ‘ touristy town’ 

This reminded me of Royston Vasey! 

I actually asked my wife how much she had put in the parking meter because after under 7 minutes we were leaving .

Filthy , grotty , soulless , hole. What a shame as this could well be a tourist hotspot with the Harbour etc.

So far , Anglesey has proved to be as beautiful as expected 

However Holyhead is arguably the worst place I’ve visited in Britain .

What a dump

The location was excellent, it's close to the city centre, lots of shops and some supermarkets like Tesco, which was very convenient to me! Staff are very helpful and kind of them! I was staying on the ground floor and my room was a bit hot, so I slept with the window wide open but I didn't feel insecure at all!

Helpful Staff and Excellent Location

Firstly, the staff at the hostel were super friendly and accommodating.  We got a very early flight to Dublin and were worried about having to carry our luggge around however we arrived at the hostel in the hope that they would hold our bags for us. Despite waking the staff member up he was more than happy to do this at no extra charge. We also left our bags here after we checked out so we could continue exploring and the staff had no issue with this either and even stored them in their private office. Throughout our stay we were very welcomed. The pictures that we saw prior to arriving at the hostel were very deceiving. The building is in need of a big refurbishment. At present it looks/is grubby and could do with freshening. Having said that, it is a cheaply priced hostel so you get what you pay for. We explained to the staff member present that the room we were given was not at all like the room we had seen in the pictures, he kindly offered to swap our rooms however after looking at the other rooms we decided to keep the one we had. We went as a couple and had a room with 4 available sleeping places so there was plenty of space for us. Although there is no en suite there was a sink in the bedroom. The bathroom was next to our room however as we shared this with our neighbours it was a little awkward as we could hear every sound in there. The shower wasnt as clean as I had hoped but it was nice and hot so did the job.
The location of the hostel was in a perfect location for us, it was only a short bus journey from the airport. We were able to make our way to the major places of interest by foot from the hostel which saved travel expenses.
If you only need the hostel as a place to sleep and aren't fussed about anything else then it will do the job. If not then get your wallet out, pay extra and find somewhere else.

Budget hostel 

Don't go there. Dirty room, dirty shower, dirty toilet. 
I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. Very expensive for what they offer. 
Very old building with people living in the room next to you "hotel room". 
The only good thing is the location. 

Terrible 

It's very central location, though sketchy enough late at night.. like any major city Dublin despite its relaxed vibe has a drug problem and to be aware of your soroundings is important.. Take common sense care and you should enjoy your visit. I stayed for one night in a small single room ,with a sink in the room .. bed was comfortable , staff are very friendly, and despite that morning no hot water in shower. Dublin is now very expensive to visit and with some extra effort in maintenance especially in plumbing area this place could be so much better. Owner do this upgrade and give your excellent staff the chance to run what could be a so much better Hotel ..

Central location , Airport Bus stops nearby.

It was a great price, good location, but the service was ok. Probably choose somewhere else the next time I go to Dublin.

It was okey but i did find a bettle in the Bed

Stay away, sleep on a park bench! This is not worth one star, it's a disgusting joke! Its not even cheap, one room for 3 of us, 150 euros a night!!!!!!!. Can I find ANYTHING good to say? well in all honesty yes, sheets were clean, NOTHING else, anywhere is!!!!!

Nightmare on Elm Street

I traveled to Dublin with my mother and booked The Holy Head Hostel before. It was one of many hostels I had checked. The location was the only good thing. 
We arrived and rang on the bell, some guy came and opened, he offered us coffee (from who knows what year) or water that has been out there for hours. It looked like really bad hygien and dirty. We got to the room, I had booked and double bed room, this was A single bed room. The bed was OK. 
In the bathroom outside the room there was wholes in the wall, the water was cold, it was dirty and I didn't know if it was safe (locked). 
I got a mail from booking regarding this hostel so I went to check the prices for the exact same dates and it was suddenly 160 euros cheaper. I questioned that but I never really got an answer why I was paying the double for a room that is smaller than what I booked. And 2 months later no words from them.

Dirty and too expensive

Not very clean   Long black hair in the sink. Mattress was strained and no matteres protecter on bed just a sheet over that uck strained mattress shower up on lever two was sooooo small and hot water was almost non existent
