The Beehive Hotel Motel

We decided to stop at Beehive for the night on our trip from Sydney to Melbourne because of the free camping.. what a surprise! The next morning we went to the hotel to get some coffee for the road and we realize what a beautiful place the hotel was! Very nice old style deco. The couple who owns the hotel are the best and very welcoming! Coffee was great and they had some nice ginger/chocolate cookies. What a great way to start the day we left with a smile in our faces. Thank you so much ❤

We were travelling from Sydney to middle Victoria on a 46° day and decided the glare, heat and smoke from fires was too much for a long haul so stopped here. A friendly welcome and a small but cool and clean motel room. The drinks were cold and the food was basic but cheap and tasty and plentiful. Taylor who was in charge was very friendly and when the power went out was trying to find out whether we could stay or not (no air con, no cooking and no water as it was on a pump) when the power came back.We opted to stay and glad we did. It was cheap and clean. The towels and bed linen looked almost new. We left early in the morning as they did not do breakfast and the smoke was really thick so we wanted to get out of there but there was a microwave and toaster plus crockery and cutlery if you had your own breakfast supplies. It also had a cafe  set up in the bar so you could stop for a coffee and sandwich. All in all a great place just metres off the highway and far better than one of the roadside service stops..

The old pub has good parking and excellent toilets. Cafe has good coffee or the bar can do soft drinks plus beers etc. a good spot to change drivers plus the option to use the adjacent motel. The hotel is a very traditional country hotel, not trendy renovated but a step back in time.
For me it was better to stop here than the Dog on the Tuckerbox.

I can only speak of our experience staying at this pub/motel, an honest opinion, otherwise it would be a misleading review.  For those folk who have had good experiences here....great....but that wasnt what we had unfortunately.
We travelled with another couple and both our rooms were below par when it came to cleanliness and presentation.  Sheets in both rooms appeared as though they hadnt been changed and ours in particular had large stains on them. We asked to be given clean sheets which was done for both rooms...and apologies were made, which was appreciated.  On the plus side, the rooms were quite spacious and it was a fairly quiet location.

Out of the four meals we ate that night, only one was OK....the fish, chips and salad...which our friend said was very good. Two of us ordered vegetables with our main which consisted of some sort of mashed, crumbed and deep fried balls of i think perhaps pumpkin.....mine were frozen still in the middle!  Plus chips i think which were made of carrots, or maybe sweet potato and were cold and unappealing on both plates. No greens of any description? We didnt eat them.  Usually vegetables are a healthy option.....this was disappointing and quite an odd choice of vegetables? Certainly not what you would normally expect?

Booked these rooms many months earlier and confirmed them the week before so no excuse for them being caught unprepared.  Perhaps the cleaner and cook were having a bad day....who knows? The rate is very reasonable but we would much rather pay more and have rooms that have been properly prepared for guests.

Not what we expected

Stopped for the night on way to Bathurst motor racing for a meal and sleep. Free van and tent parking next to pub. Good meal and friendly staff.  There is accommodation next door in a hotel. And a nice beer garden outside. Very relaxing spot.

We have been to the beehive hotel twice, and won't go back! The first time, we over looked the filth of the place because the atmosphere was ok! Decided to go back to see if it had improved and it was filthy and smelt bad!! The glasses were dirty and you could see fingerprints all over them. We ordered lunch and had to clean the utensils ourselves as there were bits of old food on them!! We did advise the lovely young fellow who was working that day but he didn't really care. The food was ok, no complaints there but the place was just So grotty, even worse than the first time we went!! Such a shame cause it's a country pub with a country feel. Needs to be sterilised.........!!!
