Tegen Hotel

My organization booked a room at the Tegen for a long stay. The garden is nice and the beds are very comfortable. However the location is far from the city center which makes the tax travel more expensive and it was far from my office. The WiFi was very marginal and the staff said it was the fault of ethio telecom however the WiFi during that time worked fine at my office. The restaurant is not of a good standard and mid way during my stay there were less guests so it seemed that they weren’t shopping. Avoid the chicken overall but the grilled fish is good. This facility does not serve beer so inviting colleagues after work was not feasible.

On the edge

Comfortable, well serviced big room with spacious en-suite bathroom. I am a paraplegic, using a wheelchair and the staff remove the shower glass cubicle so I can easily access the shower.

Accessibility is great, except for the steep ramp to enter the hotel, but the staff are very accomodating and helpful. Food is excellent and the staff very friendly and efficient.

I recommend the Tegen and pray God's blessing on the staff.

Tranquil, comfortable and high recommended

A gracious mix of Europe and Ethiopia. Charming, comfortable, very clean, plentiful good food, beautiful gardens. 
We stayed 5 weeks and were very well cared for. The staff are friendly and helpful. We were never sick. We sincerely wish for an opportunity to return.

I always my stay here; it's in a relatively quiet location and has good service.  The beds are the main attraction; they are very plush and comfortable and I always look forward to sleeping in them; plush yet still supportive.  I enjoy the side of the hotel that faces out over the city; besides the view, it catches the sun so the room is warmer by a few degrees. Most of the room have balconies with a small table and chair and I enjoy sitting there catching the sun while reading or doing work.  The wi-fi is great!  They will give you a code for each device.  I've always found the staff here to be friendly and helpful and quick to resolve any issues.  I've utilized the laundry services here and it's been same-day; leave the clothes in the basket in the morning and it will be in the room upon my return in the evening.  It's a relatively short drive to the airport; no more than 15 minutes  if there is no traffic.  I look forward to staying here again.

Always a Pleasant Stay

Most  hotels in Addis Ababa that are affordable  are large  concrete blocks with no garden -  however the Tegan Hotel is not really a traditional hotel for the business traveller - but I would stay there agin for my next business trip. It  has large airy rooms, super comfortable beds  with Ikea mattresses and linens ( and all furnishings)  and , best of all for me, a lovely garden full of  flowers . The hotel is near the airport , near the British and German embassies, so not in the middle of the city, and backs on to the eucalyptus clad hill . 
 My  colleague and I were all upgraded to suites - which had also a kitchen, sitting  room and table to work on  which would be  really good when  a longer  stay  is needed.  
Breakfast  offered a choice of continental ( with delicious Swedish cinnamon rolls), fruit, fresh fruit juice or  other cooked and Ethiopian dishes. Dinner was  fine -  but service was  slow so allow time for this, but at least it means the food is cooked to order!
We  loved sitting working on the cafe terrace looking onto the garden  - and the internet was efficient although phones and computers seemed to need different passwords.
 I would definitely choose to stay here again as I appreciated  the peace  - and if you want a bit more life, some other  restaurants are a short walk away.
 The hotel also has nice meeting rooms  for small and medium sized events.

Quiet oasis with a lovely garden

This is the nicest place I have stayed in Addis. The garden of the hotel is exquisite, and the hotel is situated near a forest, and is very quiet. The rooms are decorated with tastefully chosen Ikea furniture. The value for money in terms of rooms is amazing! There are delicious home made cinnamon bums for breakfast and the personnel are all extremely friendly. There is very good internet as well which is a problem in so many other hotels in Addis.
