Very cosy and comfortable hostel in the central area of Chisinau in a lovely old house. Both dorms and private rooms. Nice common area with kitchen. Caring owners. Best sleep I had in years. Great value for money. We hope to stay there again in October. 

Great place to stay

I arrived to Moldova by bus - I walked to the hostel with my luggage, which took about 20 minutes. I wouldn’t recommend it as the pavements are incredibly uneven and it’s further than you think. Instead, take the advice of the hostel and catch the minibus or even a taxi there. There is a money changing booth at the bus station (though not much else). 

The hostel is in a pretty good location. Really close to the bustling Central Markets and the City Centre. There are lots of money changers, coffee boxes and restaurants nearby. 

The hostel itself is pretty small but really quirky and colourful. There are rooms and bathrooms on both levels, a shared kitchen with free tea/coffee and a small chill out zone upstairs. I stayed in a private rooms, which still had bunks, I just didn’t share. The best thing about the place though was Dennis (who is super helpful with ANYTHING you need) and the cats! There are 3 or 4 little kitties running around and they are all really friendly. They’re happy to purr away on your lap or wake you up in the morning for snuggles. It was just what I needed while homesick for my own cat back home. 

I’d highly recommend staying here. It feels like a home away from home.

I ve had a perfect stay at Tapok Hostel. The Staff,the rooms and the location are really good and convenient. The kitchen and the shower and the toilets were clean. The staff is professional and friendly. A must, definitely

Ideal hostel, homey feel in heart of city. Better than better well know IH. Super guy at check in desk. True what reviewers say about large Russian male roommates, but they were nice, besides snoring.

Great hostel, very warm welcome

We loved Tapok Hostel! We stayed 6 nights the first time, then came back for another 3 nights :) The staff are friendly and helpful, it's in a brilliant location close to all the sights, with restaurants, cafes and a No.1 supermarket only a few blocks away. The beds were comfortable and there was always piping hot water! The kittens were so gorgeous - we were lucky to see them before they go to their new homes, but Santa (the fluffy one) will still be there. We had a wonderful time and will definitely return!

A wonderful hostel in a great location!

I went or visit a friend 3 days to Moldova. In chisinau I stayed in this hostel. It was very well located, colorful and small :) full of cats which I love because I love cats. Nevertheless, I understand might be a problem for someone who doesn't like them. So be aware of this. The bathroom was big and work perfectly fine. The staff were very easygoing and friendly. I totally recommend this place.

Excellent place in chisinau 

I stayed for 2 nights. I arrived on the train from Odessa arriving at 22.20 - if you do this remember to email about late check-in. The hostel is located about a 5-10 minute walk from the main market and most of the attractions are very nearby, with everything within walking distance.
The staff was lovely. Very friendly and courteous.
When I was there they had around 7 little kittens about 6 weeks old - very cute but important to know if you have an allergy. The cats stay outside but also sit on the sofa next to the reception. 
The dorm room I was in was clean. Linen was provided and was well-fitted. Towel was available for a very small fee. 
The main communal area is outside, although there is a sofa upstairs and downstairs, plus a kitchen. Lovely atmosphere. Recommend. 

Clean, friendly, good location

Stayed here for two nights and the location and the people who worked there was super kind and helpful. One of them even went to buy wine openers so that we and the other guests could enjoy some wine in their backyard 😄✌ I'm not even a hostel-person but I really enjoyed it here.

Lovely hostel

First of all shout out to the staff (Yana and Olya) who were friendly and easygoing, but the uttermost quality is the helpfulness I was provided no matter how many times I would ask for an address or which bus to take in the city; the cleanliness of the place and also the kitchen where you can take tea or coffee for free, and I can say it's totally worth the price. As I had to stay just few days, I would loved to stay more and now I'm looking forward to come back! Thank you :)

Peaceful and friendly hostel at the center :)

First of all, the staff is super friendly and always willing to help! Hostel is located perfectly five minutes away from Stafan cel Mar streed and also near the main bus station. Hostel is clean and decorated beautifully equipped with cute shared kitchen and an outside terrace. So as I remember I wanted to get the key for the locker that costs 2e of deposit but I didn't had any coins so I gave a 20e note as a  deposit. Two days later I was leaving the hostel early in the morning and was unable to find the girl working at the reception. The owner contacted me in the morning asking to transfer money over the credit card! Couple of days later I was again travelling to Chisinau from Odessa and asked the owner if I can reserve the stay for that night and asked if girl working on the reception can be awake around 1pm to let me in. I failed to arrive since I somehow got super drunk with one local guy and first thing I did after I woke up (in a hotel :'( ) was to go to the hostel to say sorry. I offered money to the owner for the night I didn't arrived and she refused my money and gave me back the deposit I left on the previous stay. Such a friendly gesture. I felt bad since I didn't kept my promise but at the same time I admired the owner and the staff since they all helped me after although I wasn't as good towards them as they were to me. I stayed at a lots of hostels around the Europe and I never experienced such friendliness from the staff and owner. All the recommendations and big thank you! I'm sure where I'm staying the next time I arrive to Chisinau! :)
