The hotel is great, close to the city center, the staff with a beautiful smile.  One bad comment The managers feel arrogant in the way they talk to the guest. I advise changing the way of dealing with the managers.  But the rest of the reception staff, the laundry, the cleaning of the rooms and the restaurant are more than wonderful

So besides the fact that the hotel is in Talatona, which is a kind of business district of Luanda with not so much around and that it will take the staff 30 minutes to check you in...overall its fine. The restaurant is ok and the rooms are spacious. The prices are high which is normal in Luanda

Check in painfully slow...but besides that ok

We were there for a conference the complete last week.

The first night they provided an alternative room, as they don't have the one reserved and paid.

That room had the power sockets not just broken, but in a very dangerous situation, you can get easily electrocuted. 

Some lights were not working (blown bulbs). I asked to stay in the same room but to get everything fixed. This was a matter for 5 minutes for an electrician, however they insisted to change the room.

Now the new room has the lights of the bathroom blown. I asked to fix it every day. They *lied* to me the first day "don't worry we fix them tomorrow, today is too late". The 2nd day they told me that they can't fix. I asked them to go to a shop to buy new bulbs. They *never* did.

The breakfast was a disaster, day after day.

This is hotel is a SCAM. I'm starting a lawsuit unless they agree to reimburse part of the money.

Check in - my room was pre-paid.  I provided evidence, I was told, “no I need to pay”.  Called our office, they confirmed room and meals were pre-paid.  Oh yes, so it is!!  An argument for no reason.  Room, not bad, good size but felt dated and in need of a really good clean.  Hotel - when you read this, and if you dispute my claim, please just look at the shower screen next to the bath.

Dinner - I ordered, waited almost an hour for soup. It was given to another table.  Soup eventually arrived and then the Tuna.  I ordered beef!!  Another long wait and I got my beef, which was tough as an old boot.  It was amusing watching the waiter walk round the restaurant offering my steak to other guests.  Why not just write the order down?  I asked for my bill which I signed, with my room number, time was 8pm.  All was well, good night.  At 11:15 pm, the waiter came banging on my door demanding I pay for dinner.  I was staying for three nights, I said I had charged to my room.  No, I had to pay now.  I refused and told him to go away.  I called the manager who was no help whatsoever.  Day two, breakfast.  I went down, entered restaurant and although almost empty there was not one clean table to be found and no staff serving.  I gave up.  Day two dinner - as I write this, I almost don’t believe it myself. I should have gone out but had a long day and just wanted a quick meal in the Italian restaurant.  I ordered seafood tagliatelle.  45 mins later, I was told there’s no tagliatelle!! I gave up and went to bed hungry. 

The internet is useless, think mid nineties level of reliability and speed.  The safe in my room was locked on arrival and could not be opened.  I give one star as the Aircon was really good and bed comfortable.  I will never use this overpriced, awful hotel again.

Just Awful

So at 5 Star and $400 a night for a basic room it is far from what a 5 star is, having stayed in hundreds of hotels around Africa and the world this hotel would struggle to meet 3 stars. 
Staff are excellent and friendly, food is very limited and although many things advertised they are not available, vegetables do not exist, breakfast is always cold, 4 salt and pepper pots available across 14 tables, not seen a teaspoon all week, you might get one if staff can be bothered.  A request for a pot of tea results in a pot of hot water, find your own tea bags, better to take your own. 
Tv has 51 channels, around 10 are working the rest are fuzzy or blank and some are frozen. WiFi is crap, when it did not work I called IT who visited, tried went saying back in 5 mins, that was 4 days ago not seen since.  
$400 a night, 400 kwanza might be better.  Will be staying elsewhere on the next visit. Toilets by the bar, seat broken and on the floor. Says it all 

5Star? Think again

I always stay at this hotel when I am in Luanda. It has a good location in Talatona. The rooms are large and the beds are very comfortable.
They also serve a very comprehensive and excellent buffet breakfast. Staff is professional and friendly.

A short walk from there to Galeria dos Paes, which is a good and affordable pizza and seafood restaurant.

Positives:
Hotel and rooms were clean
Wi-fi was acceptable
Good meeting places for business 

Negatives:
Airport shuttle didn’t arrive and then was they arranged someone else who tried to charge me $200
Food prices are just stupid. $65 for a dinner buffet that is limited and bland

It’s is Luanda, so I have taken that into account. I don’t know if I would stay again, given a choice 

Overpriced for what you get 

Hotel is modern ,room nice and spacy, all modern. Staff speaks quite well English  and is friendly .   I didn't have time to swim.  Breakfast is ok.  But no need to take lunch.  Most of the items they offer were not available. Also power rupture for 3 hours ( they should have a generator ).  But overall quite ok

Nice hotel, South of City centre ( need about 1 hour to get there

I stayed one night at the Talatona and slept beautifully.  The bed, pillows and bedding were clean and comfortable.  The bathroom was well supplied with hair care items and soap.  The tub is large and spacious for soaking and also had a shower available with good water pressure, unlike other places I have stay at in Luanda.  There were plenty of large fluffy towels available too.  Bathroom was huge with a large mirror. There is a safe available for use as well. My only fault is with the restaurant, the only option is a buffet.  Breakfast and Lunch was nicely taken care of but dinner was lacking attention and the food ran out or looked as though it had been sitting for hours.  The wine list arrived and was 5 pages long.  My coworkers chose a few bottles of wine and we were told none were available. Finally they asked which wines were available and they showed us one South African Red which was fine but why show us a large menu of options? There is a very nice outside pool with a bar as well.  Great place but go elsewhere for dinner.
