I booked the Taharuu surf lodge as a last minute weekend getaway and I wasn't sure what to expect. The property is an absolutely stunning, sprawling green with trees, coconuts, beautiful flowers and even a bunch of tiny baby chicks running around. The hosts were incredibly kind and generous. They even drove us to a reggae concert at a minutes notice and joined us for a beer. I was so comfortable in my room, with mosquito netting so I could keep my window open and enjoy the breeze. It's only one block away from a very popular surf break, super easy, convenient, wonderful place to stay. Their surf lodge is immaculately kept with the freshest fruit you will ever eat. 10/10, definitely coming back!

C'est Fantastique!!!!

This is a great location.  I drove around the island many times and I was so glad I was staying here.  It is a 2 minute walk across the street to a beautiful beach with surfing and then to the left you have snorkeling.  There are places to eat within walking distance along with a good grocery store.  The owners are awesome and very helpful.  Wifi works great and the view is spectacular!!!  They have plenty of fresh avocados, bananas and coconuts that they grow right there on the property.  The shared kitchen is spacious with everything you need. The common areas are beautiful and relaxing.  My room had a mini fridge which I loved.  The shared bathroom and showers were downstairs from the rooms and they were very clean.  The only bummer was walking downstairs to the bathroom in the middle of the night when it was pouring down rain.  However I am mid age so for you younger people it won't be a problem.  be prepared there is only one electrical socket in the room so bring a dual charger.  The rooms had fans (which was all you need) and mosquito screens that worked great.  Rooms are very small and simple but it has everything you need and they are very comfortable.  Beds are comfy and clean too.  Highly recommend....I will be back for sure!!

Clean, great location, and safe

Great accommodation option! Clean basic rooms, some with magnificent views of the mountains, great kitchen and facilities, big tended gardens with produce to harvest.  Chickens and cats! Free fresh eggs every morning and avocado from the garden.  Very quiet and safe. Staff are lovely and extremely helpful, with supermarket and cafes walking distance.  Surf break readily accessible across the road, which caters for all levels and is great fun. Locals are friendly and very hospitable.  Terry the owner was sooo lovely, always ready to show us things to try from the garden, and take us to Teahupoo, where he is connected with the boats so totally easy..  Couldn't recommend a better place to stay really, very clean and attractive and had a wonderful time! Photos don't do it justice!  Highly recommended for anyone!

Amazing place to stay!

It is hard to describe with words the amazing time I had at Taharuu Surf lodge. I was supposed to stay 3 days and ended up changing my plans and staying 3 weeks! The place is just amazing! its paradise in Tahiti!! Its an enourmous house with endless gardens and only 2 minuts from the beach and a big supermarket. The place is very well mantained and continuously kept very clean. Fresh fruits from the garden are daily available: bananas, avocados, coconuts...and also fresh eggs for breakfast! The beach side terrace has hammacs, a pool table, outside kitchen and barbecue. Perfect place for a relaxing time and share experiences with other travellers.The location of the lodge is in front of the only beach break in Tahiti that works all year. This is great value if you want to surf 3 times per day and you dont have to rely on expensive boats to drive you to the reef breaks. For beginer surfers its the perfect beach wave and for experienced surfers as well. It is a beautiful right and left hand wave that have different sections, and you can get barreled if you are in the right spot! Now, the best of the Lodge is actually Thiérry, the owner of the house. Such a nice and friendly person taking care at all times of everyones needs! He built the lodge himself with his mates. He is a surf legend known by everyone around. He can organise tours and excursions and also offers transfers to Teahupoo(only 30 min away), airport, etc. His aim is that you have the best time ever. And he really did for all the people who were there. He explained to us so many funny stories and showed us traditional stuff like how to get the coconut milk and prepare Poisson cru. I could continue on and on describing the best time ever i had in Polynesia. I obviously recomend this place.I cant wait to go back! Thanks Dada!!!

Best time ever!!

This place a must stay.  It hostel is so big a roomy is feels like a hotel.  The surf break is walking distance which is a good option if you're not a pro and surf Chopu.  A grocery store is also walking distance to buy beer or food.  The staff is really easy going.  For breakfast I had their complimentary papaya and bananas for my two night stay.  The grounds are immaculately kept with fruit trees blooming year round.  I really recommend renting a car a driving down to Tahiti Iki since the scenery is hard to beat.
