nice hotel near lake Grövelsjön with lots of hiking possibilities; hotel staff is very kind and helpful; booking the boat over the lake to Norway has to be booked in advance (and in our case just the latest tour and the first return trip were bookable one day in advance)

Stayed here for three nights with my two sons. Beautiful location, great food, friendly service and nice relax area with a hot tub. The rooms were a bit disappointing and completely lacked charm and ambience. The nearby tracks for XC-skiing were really poorly maintained, so I would not recommend to come here if that is the primary purpose of your trip.

We have yet another unusual hotel selection.  This time, it is with a walking group of 47 who came en masse to stay for 5 days while wandering each day in the mountains.  While we did not make the selection, we can see why the group did.

Lars and Helena ("Lena") are the owners and hosts.  They do a splendid job of making one feel welcome, at home, and as comfortable as possible.  For them, almost nothing is impossible, and one need ask only once.

The hotel has a 4-star rating.  This does not equate to any global rating, but to a rating of similar mountain area hotels.  On this basis, the rating is well deserved.  The food for both breakfast and dinner is delicious and plentiful, served buffet-style.  The wine and beer selection are equally as good.  The second-most attractive feature of the hotel are its position next to a crystal clear river, and the wellness center next to the river behind the hotel.  Here one can enjoy a sauna, the hot tub, a quick dip in the river, and/or just relax inside the well-appointed wellness center.  My wife loved this aspect of the hotel.

The rooms are more basic, which means not luxurious, yet are very clean, and come with private baths.  The beds are extremely comfortable, and are equipped with high-quality bedding, something one wants after a long day's walk in the surrounding mountains.

A really nice place to arrive after a long drive up, or a long hike. This hotel is very well organised and has a lovely lounge area with books and magazines (alas without an open fire place). The restaurant serves thoughtfully prepared food from a menu of local food and the three course meals with matched wines will feel like a real treat after all your exercise in the mountains. If you are vegetarian, keep expectations low. The rooms are very simple standard but spacious and functional, and will have what you need. The staff is exceptionally friendly, kind and helpful. You are likely to feel very welcome and to leave with a smile and a plan to return.
