I had lunch here with a friend last week and was pleasantly surprised. Even though I'm not one to go to bars, I'm hooked on their food. Try a giant deli-style sandwich for only $5.50, or one of the other great items on the menu.

We visited the bar and had the best time.  Cannot speak about the hotel but the other reviews here of it sound great.  "Shar behind the bar" is a delightful lady, lot's of charm and a fun personality.  She made us feel very welcome and offered great food and drink options. We had the very tasty French Dip with tater tots which I'm glad we shared because it was huge!  Ranch dip for the tots along with ketchup (all natural, no high fructose "death" syrup) were nummy additions.  Healthy pours of Jameson Whiskey in our drinks were much appreciated.  And we each had Shar's special pudding shots, okay I had two!  Those are ridiculously delicious for dessert.  Then we had her special drink that tasted like a grown-up Otter Pop.  The music playing was a great mix of rock and country and you could also pick from the jukebox on the wall.  It's a funky retro bar with lots of personality and it's easy to see how everyone has a good time there.

The rooms are quite small, but very nicely furnished. The bed was very soft and nice with great pillows and cute old-timey pictures and fittings. It's very, very clean as well. The continental breakfast is set up in the very quaint hallway with fruit, coffee maker and pastries. The service was great, we got an iron delivered to the room in a jiffy. It's above a saloon, so you can relax down there as well. There was no karaoke the night we stayed, but there was a fair amount of street noise, so if you'd be bothered by that, I recommend ear-plugs. I would definitely stay there again!

The Stanwood Hotel and Saloon is an historic experience that is well worth the short diversion from I-5. Stanwood is an historic farm town that rush and hustle has missed. Leonard and Marilyn have restored the late 19th century hotel, updated from the foundation and studs up and created a most unique and historic B and B. The process has been long due to FEMA and the challenging condition the hotel and bar were in but result is self evident. Come and enjoy the hospitality and the history of Stanwood and experience this unique destination. I would give it five stars if love for a wonderful old piece of history counted. In addition this hotel is a half a block from the Stanwood Cafe which is a country local cafe serving breakfast that will match any country restaurant in the northwest. But that's another review.

A unique and fun experience with history as a bonus

Best Sandwich in town

One employee to run the bar and restaurant..... deli sandwhich was pushed by employee so gave it a try.... yes its huge but the tastse is lacking. The restrooms are disgusting, I would rather go to a rest stop than experience thier restroom ever again. And were not talking a simple one time disgusting.... restroom needs to be bleach cleaned for what its been lacking in 20 years. Hope the health inspectors never go there. But I will give it another shot because when people read reviews they can learn and improve.
