We stayed for 4 days and had an amazing time. The B&B was more than we expected, the hospitality and service was incredible. Breakfast was great too! A great location to visit Castlewellan and Newcastle. Thank you for a brilliant stay, we look forward to staying again!

The only bad thing about our stay was that it was too short!
My wife and I arrived late Friday night to a very warm welcome from Emma in her beautiful, spacious and spotlessly clean home.  The location is great, just 5 mins walk from the town but on a quiet road - ideal.
We were in town for a wedding party and had just a few minutes to change and order a taxi, but Emma told us to take our time as she would drive us to the venue, now that's great service!
The room itself was well presented and clean with tea and coffee facilities, TV, bathrobes etc.
The breakfast menu was great and we opted for the full Irish which was amazing!  
All in all we couldn't find one negative thing to say as the price was also very fair, we will definitely stay here again!

To say that this B&B exceeded my expectations and proved me wrong is an under-statement!!
I've always been a 'hotel boy' and never really considered a B&B ... Which seems strange to say as they both perform the same function ... So when I booked Sona House I was unsure what to expect
As a summary - all I can say is that Sona House is simply a gem!
- great hosts - really good communication on directions / when to check in / they make you feel really welcome without being intrusive
- rooms are spot on - comfy bed , good ensuite, strong wifi, digital TVs
- breakfast - stunning quality and great choice
What makes this place really special are the small touches that you don't expect ... Newspapers at breakfast / fresh orange juice / a visitors guide in the room etc

Overall - this is better than a hotel and is incredible value for money ... I might sound like a broken record but the breakfast is the best I have ever eaten in a hotel

Book Sona House - you won't be disappointed

Stayed in Sona House for 3 nights (Fri,Sat, Sun) whilst hiking in the Mournes. It's everything you'd want from a B&B; friendly, cosy and clean. It's in a quiet part of Newcastle but still only 5 minutes walk from the town centre and easy to access main roads to the rest of the Mournes if you're going on day trips so the location is ideal. The room was well maintained and clean, tea, coffee and bottled water all provided as were bathrobes. The bathroom was same and spacious with a heated towel rack and a decent shower. The host (Emma) is what really makes this place great though. From the moment we arrived she was very accomodating and friendly and her advice for eating and drinking in Newcastle was always spot on. The breakfast is top class, great choice and well presented (the porridge and homemade granola being the highlights). Morning papers were also available at breakfast, it's the little touches like that which makes Sona House a memorable, homely staying experience.Can't recommend it highly enough. Would gladly stay again.

A well deserved 5 stars. Faultless service from a lovely host. The room was great, comfortable and clean as was the whole place. Delicious cooked breakfast and all at a reasonable price. Would stay again.
