Rooms are okay for the price. Good service. Their breakfast is better than similar hotels in Addis. Service is good. Very friendly and cooperative staff. They to have good Wi-Fi. But they removed the routers from every floor. For more than a month no Wi-Fi. 

Good service and breakfast

I waited abut 20/25 minutes in the hotel lobby bar to be served but no-one came. I wonder if I am invisible. All the more strange as I was the only [white] foreigner in the place.  Anyway thank you for a free sit down after a long walk and a free visit to the toilet.

Am I invisible

First experience at lunch buffet and no complaints. Good service, plenty of variety to choose from; salads to start followed by hot dishes and fruit to finish. Reasonable fixed price. I had never been before but will definitely go again. Helpful parking.

Wunderful Lunch Buffet

I stayed for four nights here and had a decent experience.  If you have other options (are willing to pay more), you can do better, but for the price it's about what I expected.  The wifi was elusive, even in the lobby sometimes.  The room itself was spartan, with an adequate bed and a small tv.  The hotel's age showed in the fact that all of the electrical outlets were protruding from the concrete walls.  It also got pretty cold at night, but there were extra blankets provided.  Shower, bathroom, and housekeeping--no complaints.  

While the hotel does have credit card machines, they weren't working while I was there.  It sounds like this has been true for others, either because the connection is unreliable, or because they cheat the exchange rate in asking for cash (my total bill was ~$192 when converted from birr, but they asked for $200 USD, new bills only).  There is an ATM just outside the hotel though, so that could have been avoided.  One other off-putting moment was when the inside door knob/lever broke clean off of the door my first morning.  Thankfully I had the door open already, and thankfully it was replaced with a stronger model by the end of the day.

On the bright side, Semien is very well-staffed for a smaller hotel--from the desk to the bar, the restaurant, and the front door.  I'm a bit skeptical about the claim of 24-hour room service, but there are definitely folks around the lobby 24 hours in case anything comes up.  Staff were generally cheery, and the level of English spoken varied from person to person.  The breakfast buffet was above average (with injera!), but I might avoid the dinner buffet and order a-la-carte if eating dinner there.

Good Hotel with small but clean single rooms with hot water.
The Wi-Fi worked in my room and I had a tv with few international channels 
The food is very nice even if you try the local dishes ,, I really like it 
The only thing I could not understand when they asked to keep my passport in the reception till my checking out ! I could not understand why as it’s my first time to face this request !

Good Hotel with small but clean single rooms

I stayed for 4 days.  The price is reasonable for Addis Ababa - USD 50/night for a single room with breakfast.  I was on the street side, so it can be a bit noisy.  I would agree that it is a bit run down...but the rooms are clean, I had running hot water and getting laundry done was relatively inexpensive.  I tried the wifi, which didn't work.
