Part of a group of 9. Enjoyed our two night stay, very relaxing and staff all very friendly and helpful. Two minor problems with one chalet resolved quickly and efficiently when mentioned to management. 

Good rest

Not cheap to be Malawi, and far away of a luxurious lodge. Room with an uncomfortable bed, bad light, poor food, dirty swimming pool... Just a nice view and monkeys in the area. The price should be less keeping in mind that we are in this country and with this level of service and comfort.

Correct for one or two nights

Beautiful place, super friendly staff, great views and pleasant little private beach. Definitely recommend it!

Great place! Amazing views, and very comfy!

Reservation made on Booking.com for a "double room with lake view" with en suite bathroom. Upon arrival after 20:00, I was shown to a "chalet" i.e. a hut with a single bed downstairs and a double bed in the loft (reachable with a very steep ladder). There were a few hangers, but no desk, chairs or nightstands. I asked for a chair, but otherwise there was no place other thant the floor to place any items. Room amenities included minifridge and electric kettle. There was no A/C (which I knew in advance) and the two fans had plugs that didn't much the sockets. The bathroom (for my exclusive use) was not en suite, but located outside and required walking a few meters outdoors; also, it was open and had no door. The bathroom fixtures appeared old and grimy; however, the shower had hot water good water pressure.
Needless to say, the room and bathroom didn't match the description. The steep ladder was a safety hazard, and having to walk to the open bathroom outdoors was not only inconvenient but unsafe, due to the presence of insects and monkeys. One morning, while I was in the bathroom, several monkeys congregated on the deck with the clear intention of getting into the room when the door was opened. They were quite aggressive and wouldn't leave, so I had to go look for security in my pajamas.
Upon check-in I was informed that wifi (which was described as available in all areas) worked only in the restaurant. When I objected, I was given a router, therefore I had good wifi in my room.
The grounds were pleasant, but the pool was quite dirty.
The location is beautiful but remote. There are no stores or restaurants nearby. The lodge has its own restaurant. Breakfast buffet was reasonable the first morning, but very basic the next day.
Overall friendly staff.
The manager acknowledged the the room and bathroom didn't match the description, and agreed to a 25% refund. Hence 2 stars instead of 1.

Very disappointing, did not match description

The best place to take off the stress of busy life. And also kids love this place. It's secluded and I love the monkeys and the wild feeling it brings

The chalets are affordable and good for a medium sized family

Visit safari beach lodge

Had a great time at Safari Beach Lodge! Food was amazing & staff really friendly & helpful. Is a stunning place to stay, really enjoyed the scenery & swimming pool. Accommodation was clean & tidy. Enjoyed having the moneys visiting our balcony! 

A Unique place to stay!

Stayed three nights for a wedding.  Chose to stay in one of the old rooms due to expecting to need air-conditioning albeit during rainy season.  Unfortunately power grid was offline  first day and solar power unable to cope with load and there is no generator back-up.  Hot water not hot and sometimes faded into nothingness.  Room itself bit basic and would benefit from renovation.  After viewing other guests chalets which were newer, lighter and  with a pleasant breeze with a view I would opt for that in preference.  Food was fine but nothing special.  Platform bar was closed during stay and Wi-fi did not work due to "network problems".  Private beach and location was good.

Room For Improvement

My husband and I just got married here and I couldn't have asked for more. The venue itself is stunning and we had specifically chosen it due to the wonderful previous experiences we'd had there. However, I didn't expect Jane, Omi and the rest of the team there to go so out of their way to make our day so magical. Jane organised everything herself, going above and beyond, and even made the wedding cake herself which was delicious. I dont know if we'll ever be able to thank them enough but I can 10000% recommend a stay there, you won't regret it! <3

Beyond expectations!

We stayed in the standard room which included a double bed upstairs and a single bed downstairs with a shower and toilet outside of the room but not very far to walk. It had a lovely balcony that overlooks the water. The service was very attentive and the employees were very friendly and helpful. we took an interesting tour of the local fishing village and hiked up to a peak for a view. As we were vegan they really went out of their way to accommodate us. It is pretty close to where the Ilala ferry comes in.

Safari Beach Lodge is a hidden gem.  Go there.  It is wonderfully landscaped with charming, secluded chalets and a staff full of genuine warmth. Special thanks to Jane, the Manager, for going out of her way to fulfill a special request.  The chalet was both traditionally Malawian and charming, with a private balcony that allowed viewing of the Ilala as she anchored at dusk.  The menu is not expansive, but if you love Malawi, as I do, you will savor the choices and quality.  Thanks to all.  A return is planned.
