Amjad Al Salam

I have read too many negative comments in here before i traveled to Madinah for Umrah as it was the hotel that our agent had booked us in, so basically i was prepared for the worst as i was travelling together with our family of 9 people including kids. After staying at the Amjad Asalaam hotel for 5 years, i honestly thing some of the reviewers are being too harsh, apart from the arrogant Egyptian restaurant supervisor and the slow WI-Fi (which i did use much as i had a Saudi sim card), everything else was ok for me. The check in process was ok, Rooms big enough and beds comfy, hot water was available from the showers. The bengali housekeepers were very friendly, had a few chats with some of them as they cleaned the rooms, nice chaps, i had them take our laundry to the dry cleaners and the price was reasonable. Location of the hotel is superb, a few minutes walk to Masjid Nabawi either to gate 7 from the front of the hotel of gate 8 through the market from the rear of the hotel, we loved walking back via gate 8 so we could do some shopping at the market on our way back although we found gate 7 most peaceful when going for Salah as it is straight to Bab Salaam. Many shops right outside the hotel with a tea/shawarma vendor just next door. a few pharmacies nearby and a forex exchange shop directly opposite the hotel.The lifts work alright though a bit busy before/after prayers which is understandble. All in all. Amjad Alsalaam was pretty much ok for us as all we wanted was a hotel close to the Masjid .
